Jack London was (1)          born           in San Francisco, California, in 1876. He (2)          took             a high place in American literature at the beginning of the twentieth (3)        century                           At that time, the library shelves and bookshops of America were already (4)   full       of books by (5)       famous              writers. But Jack London's stories were new, his characters were not (6)                     like                        the ones in the books of those writers, and the pictures he (7)                           painted                              were not the same (8)                as      their    pictures.

The characters in Jack London's books live a different life, a life of danger. In his stories, the heroes are afraid (9)             of              nothing and nothing can (10)         stop             them. People in his books never give up (11)                  hope                , they never stop (12)   fighting

For life even when the end of life (13)     seems                 very near. That is the (14)      lesson      for US to apply in everything we want and everything we do. If we do not (15)                 lose                            hope, we must and will win.
