Many countries all over the world celebrate the New Year holiday. In China, it is a very happy time. Chinese people think it is the most important time of the year. There are parades in the streets, and families gather for big dinners. At these dinners, children get lucky money in red envelopes as their good grade and achievements during the last year. Before the New Year, the Chinese people always clean their houses to clean out bad luck. Everything must be fresh and clean as they think that they will have a happy new year. People also make sure that they have paid all their bills. It is important to start a New Year without owning anyone’s money. Different from Chinese, in Thailand, people hold Water Festival. The festival takes place everywhere in the country but especially popular in the north. Water Festival takes place in the middle of April every year. It is a part of the Thai New Year. People throw buckets of water on each other. There are even parades where people throw water. It is especially important to throw water on older people. It shows respect to them.

Among the festivals celebrated by the Chinese is the Moon Cake Festival, also known as the Mid - Autumn Festival. Large numbers of small round moon (1) ___cakes____ are eaten on this day, and the children enjoy (2) ___carrying____ colourful paper lanterns. These paper lanterns come in all (3) __shapes_____ like fish, rabbits and butterflies.

There are many stories as to the origin of this festival. One popular tale (4) __tells___ of the Moon Princess (5) ____who___ risked her life to end the rule of her wicked husband. Mid-Autumn Festival

Mid autumn Festival í held on 15th day of the eight lunar month to celebrate biggest full moon in the year. In Viet Nam, this festival is for children .........because...... children are center of all activities on that day. ........when........ the festival is coming, the adults and the parents prepare many diferent foods - moon cakes, candies, biscuits, jellies, and fruit. ......Besides........, the children are given many nice lanterns - star lanterns, flower lanterns and diverse funny masks, .......so that...... they can light the lantern during the Mid- Autumn night.

...........Also.......... the autumn is the time of the beginning ò the new school year, the adults and parents give gifts to the children . The festival takes places ...........when......... people have had good crops. ..........moreover....., it is also the congratulation for the full harvest.

Nowaday, ......although........ some of the traditional toys have been replaced by modern toys, the meaning of the festival has been kept and developed. It is certain that Mid-Autumn Festival is a good example of the traditional culture of the Vietnamese.
