Tet, one of the most important festivals in Vietnam , usually occurs around the end of January and the beginning of february or on the fist days based on the lunar calendar . Tet holiday is a wonderful occasion for Vietnamese families to celebrate in which people will dress new fancy clothes,reunite together, and serve some special traditional food . Vietnamese people usually dress new clothes during Tet holiday. The clothing in this occasion is spacial and colorful. Adults wear "Ao dai " while chidren wear new and fashionable clothes which their parents usually buy for them before Tet. Moreover , the warm atmosphere of the reunion that it brings to families is also an imporant thing to know about Tet. They give the greeting wishes to each other . Children may be the most excited because they can receive lucky money from the elders. One of the most meaningful things about Tet is united meal because people can enjoy traditional food together such as Banh Chung , Banh Tet , Vietnamese sausage , sticky rice or candied fruits

Tet or lunar new year is the main holiday for vietnamese people. It is the most important celebration in the year which falls sometimes between January 19 and Februay 20. Tet mark the beginning of spring and it a time for family members who live apart try to be together

The preparatios and celebrations used to be spread over months but nowadays the holiday is much shorter. However there is great excitement building up well before tet. Street are decorated with colored lights and Red bananers shops are full of goods. People are busy buying gifts cleaning and secorating their house and cooking traditional foods

On the first day of tet people try to be nice and polite to others they visit their relatives or friends and exchange new year wishes. Children receive the lucky money inside Red envelopes many people go to the pagoda to pray for a happy new year for theselves their family. Tet is really a time of fun and festivals throughout the country
