a.

$5x-[2x+1-(2x-3)-(4x+1)]=5x-(2x+1-2x+3-4x-1)$

$=5x-(-4x+3)=5x+4x-3=9x-3$

b.

$(-3x^2+2x-1)+(4x^2-2x+3)$

$=-3x^2+2x-1+4x^2-2x+3=x^2+2$

+) 5x² ( 4x³ + 2x - 7 )

= 5x² . 4x³ + 5x² . 2x - 5x² .7

= 20x⁵ + 10x³ - 35x² .
