A recent survey conducted by TIRA, a Vietnamese research company, highlights problems about the lifestyles of Vietnamese teenagers in urban areas. There is an imbalance in their consumption of time for studying and recreational activities. On average, these teenagers spend 9.5 hours a day on studies at school and at home. They only have about four hours for entertainment. Most of this time is spent on watching television and the internet, where they chat through social networks. The teenagers admit that they use computers to play games and to chat with friends much more than using it for studying purposes. The survey also shows that during summer months, despite having much more free time than during school years, these teenagers still fail to manage their time properly. They stay in bed longer, and then get hooked on games and TV. The time for computers and TV increases significantly to about five or six hours a day, while there is almost no time for physical outdoor activities. |

Read about Trang's leisure activities. Choose the correct answer.
Some teenagers enjoy spending free time with their friends. Others prefer doing leisure activities with their family members. I love spending time with my family because it's a great way to connect with them.
At the weekend, we usually go for a bike ride. We cycle to some nearby villages to enjoy the fresh air. We take photos and look at them later. My big brother and I are also into cooking. My brother looks for easy recipes. After that, we prepare the ingredients and cook. Sometimes the food is good, but sometimes it isn't; nevertheless, we love whatever we cook. The leisure activity I like the most is doing DIY projects with my mum. She teaches me to make my own dresses and doll clothes. On special occasions, we make special dresses together. Once I won the first prize in a costume contest at my school.

UK EDUCATION AFTER SECONDARY SCHOOL
In the UK, students can choose to end their formal education at 16, but in England they must stay in full-time education or do a training course until the age of 18.
Many 16-year-old students go on to study at different vocational colleges. Vocational education usually lasts up to three years. During this time, students learn job-specific skills. That is why vocational education is often referred to as career education or technical education. Many students still go on to higher education after receiving their vocational qualifications.
Alternatively, students can go toa sixth-form college or stay at their secondary school if it offers a sixth form for two more years. Students usually focus on three or four subjects that they are interested in or related to the degree they want to study at university. Exams are taken at the end of the two-year course, and the grades are used to apply for university courses. Not all students leaving sixth form go to university. Some prefer to get into a vocational course or find a job.
At university, students study for at least three years in order to get a bachelor’s degree. After the first degree, they can study for one to two years to get a master’s degree, and three to five years to get a doctorate.
