Cứ mỗi năm lại đến, khi hoa đào , hoa mai đua nhau nở rực chim én từng đàn tụ hội bay về. và cái se se lạnh của mùa đông đã thay bằng tiết trời ấm áp của xuân sang. Đó cũng là lúc tết đến xuân về với quê em. Ngày mà ai cũng háo hừng chờ đợi

    Trước ngày tết ai cũng háo hức để chuẩn bị để có 1 cái tết hoàn hảo và ấm áp nhất. những ngày này mẹ em đi chợ mua những thứ cần thiết để chuẩn bị cho ngày tết đang đến. Mẹ mua hoa quả bánh trái và không quên mua cho bọn em những bộ quần áo mới thơm tho đẹp đẽ và chọn kĩ lưỡng thịt lợn để nấu , mà mẹ em thường gọi là thịt đông, rồi mua bóng bóng về cho bố em trang trí  đào mà bố mang từ vườn về .Công việc của bố em là trang trí quét dọn nhà với bàn thờ tổ tiên sạch sẻ chuẩn bị hoa quả kẹo bánh trưng bày lên bàn thở để đón 1 cái tết ấm áp trong 1 năm chỉ có 1 lần. Còn ông bà em hai người cao tuổi nhất trong nhà thì ngồi với nhau để gói những chiếc bánh chưng bánh giầy thật đẹp để cúng bái theo phong tục ngày tết ở quê. Khi đã chuẩn bị xong những thứ cho ngày tết thì tất cả những thành viên trong gia đình ngồi quây quần bên nhau nói chuyện rất vui và ấm áp . khi mọi người trong nhà đầy đủ không thiếu 1 ai.

Để chuẩn bị đón giao thừa mà khoảnh khác ai cũng mong đợi. Khi giao thừa đến công việc của em là chuẩn bị pháo các kiểu để đón tết đến . Đến khoảnh khắc giao thừa với nhau thì mọi người chúc nhau sức khỏe với công việc tốt. Tất cả ai cũng vui vẻ ăn uống cười nói. Em cảm thấy rất hạnh phúc.

Sáng mồng 1 khi em thức dậy bước ra cửa cảm giác khác với những ngày bình thường. Trời trong lành thời tiết ấm áp khác lạ. Lúc em đang ngủ thì bố mẹ em đã dậy chuẩn bị để cúng mồng 1.  Cúng rồi ăn uống xong mẹ em mừng tuổi cho em 10 nghìn. Cái thời đấy thì 10 nghìn rất có giá tri. Và em rất là vui bắt đầu chạy vào phòng để mặc những bộ đồ mới mà mẹ em đã mua để chuẩn bị đi chúc tết ông bà . những ngày sau thì em đi chơi với bạn bè đi chúc tết những  thầy cô và bạn bè của mình . mong mọi người có 1 cái tết thật vui vẻ mạnh khỏe nhất

First, everybody has to do their share of the household chores. For example, my mother cooks meals everyday, my father mends things around the house in his free time, my elder sister washes clothes and I usually clean the house. Second, I and my sister have to prepare meals. I think so. Because, my mother cooks meals and we should help her. It is a service which we express deep gratitute to mom. And my father will be happy if the meals are ready on the table by the time he gets home. During the school year, I'm not allowed to watch TV or talk on the phone. My parents don't allow me to access the internet for amusement. In fact, I miss them, but I know my parents want me to concentrate on studying. It's good for me. Next, whenever problems come up, we must discuss them frankly and find solutions quickly, or before making an important decision. This is often the most exciting part of the Vietnamese New Year among children. Parents usually purchase new clothes and shoes for their children a month prior to the New Year. However, children cannot wear their new clothes until the first day of the New Year and onward. The best outfit is always worn on the first day of the year.

Seven days (the 23rd night of the last lunar month) prior to Tet, each Vietnamese family offers a farewell ceremony for Ong Tao to go up to Heaven Palace. His task is to make an annual report to the Jade Emperor of the family's affairs throughout the year.

4. Lunar New Year's Eve (Đêm giao thừa)

However, in a literal translation, it means "Passage from the Old to the New Year". It is a common belief among Vietnamese people that there are 12 Sacred Animals from the Zodiac taking turn monitoring and controlling the affairs of the earth. Thus, Giao Thua (New Year's Eve)is the moment of seeing the old chief (Dragon for 2000) end his ruling term and pass his power to the new chief (Snake for 2001). Giao Thua is also the time for Ong Tao (Kitchen God) to return to earth after making the report to the Jade Emperor. Every single family should offer an open-air ceremony to welcome him back to their kitchen.

6. Apricot flowers and peach flowers (Hoa mai và hoa đào)

Flower buds and blossoms are the symbols for new beginning. These two distinctive flowers are widely sold and purchased during Tet. Hoa Mai are the yellow apricot flowers often seen in Southern Viet Nam. Hoa Mai are more adaptable to the hot weather of southern regions, thus, it is known as the primary flower in every home. Hoa Dao are the warm pink of the peach blossoms that match well with the dry, cold weather from the North. Tet is not Tet if there is no sight of Hoa Mai (south) or Hoa Dao (north) in every home.

7. Giving away red envelopes (filled with lucky money) (Phát phong bao màu đỏ (với tiền mừng tuổi))

This is a cultural practice that has been maintained for generations. The red envelopes symbolize luck and wealth. It is very common to see older people giving away sealed red envelopes to younger people. Reciprocally, the older ones would return good advice and words of wisdom, encouraging the younger ones to keep up with the schoolwork, live harmoniously with others, and obey their parents.

This greeting ritual and Li Xi is also known as Mung Tuoi, honoring the achievement of another year to one's life.

8. Making offers for the Ancestors (Thực hiện cúng tổ tiên)

This ceremony is held on the first day of the New Year before noontime. The head of the household should perform the proper ritual (offering food, wine, cakes, fruits, and burn incense) to invite the souls of the ancestors to join the celebration with the family. This is the time families honor the souls of their ancestors and present the welfare of the family.

Vietnamese New Year Foods (Thức ăn trong ngày Tết của người Việt Nam)

One of the most traditional special foods for New Years (Tet) of Vietnamese is Banh Chung or sticky rice cake. Banh Chung is made of sticky rice, pork meat and green bean, every ingredient is wrapper inside a special leaf which calls Dong. Making the Banh Chung requires care and precision in every step. The rice and green bean has to be soaked in water for a day to make it stickier. The pork meat is usually soaked with pepper for several hours. Squaring off and tying the cakes with bamboo strings require skillful hands to make it a perfect square.

Banh Chung is a must among other foods to be placed on the ancestors' altars during Tet holiday. In the old time, one or two days before Tet, every family prepares and cooks the Banh Chung around the warm fire. It is also the time for parents to tell their children folklore stories. Nowadays, families which live in villages still maitain making Banh Chung before New Years but the people in the city does not. They don't have time and prefer to go to the shop to buy it.

 Tet is a traditional holiday of our country Vietnam.
The season of Tet occurs around the biginning of February and end of Janaurỵ The meaning of Tet is ending old year and welcome a new year. Tet holiday is very special for Vietnamese families to reunite. At that time, all family members try to come back their homes and get together to prepare for Tet. Moreover they will buy new clothes and clean their house. A branch of Mai flower or a Kumquat tree can't be absent from every home. They bring a fresh atmosphere to the house. We decorate ancestral altar with a tray full of fruits and flowers.
Some typical Tet's food such as sweets, coconut jam, candied fruits, lemon seeds, rice cake , "thit kho"( stew pork with eggs). A special food can not absent is sticky rice cake.. It is our country's traditional food on Tet holiday. Tet meal is more dilicious than our every day.

The people usually clean their house, prepare for Tet, go shopping, buy some chung cake,...They also watch fireworks at the New Year's Eve - Tet's Eve. Tet always has many special foods like coconut jams,candies,cakes,meat.The Tet's foods are more delicious than our food in normal day.The children don't have to study, and they also visit relatives.Tet is very fun with everybody.
