I live in a big house in the countryside and it is very beautiful. It has a living room, a kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the living room, there is a table, four chairs, a television and an air conditioner. My bedroom is very nice. There is a computer, a bed, a lamp and two pictures on the wall. And a bookshelf above the table, some teddy bears on the bed and a wardrobe next to my bed. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a stove and a sink. Next to the kitchen is the bathroom. It has a shower, a washing machine and a tub. I love my house very much.

Van Mieu (The Temple of Literature) was constructed in 1070 during Ly Thanh Tong's dynasty. Its original purpose was to honor Confucius. In 1076, the first university of Vietnam called Quoc Tu Giam (The Imperial Academy), was established within this temple by Emperor Ly Nhan Tong. That's the reason why the complex has the name of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam up to now. Initially, Quoc Tu Giam was the school for princes and children of royal families and then expanded in the following year to admit top students from around the country.

Nowadays, Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam is one of the most famous tourist destinations for both Vietnamese people and foreigners. It's also a place to celebrate doctorates and high ranking scholars of Vietnam. One special thing about this place is that there are 82 Doctors' stone tablets. They are tombstones with names and origins of 1304 doctors placed on the backs of stone tortoises. If you come here at the beginning of the year or in May, when many important examinations take place, you will catch sights of numerous families and students who come and pray for luck.

Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam opens daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the entrance fee for each adult is 30,000 VND.

Bat Trang Ceramic Village

“I wish I could marry you/ I will buy Bat Trang bricks to build our house” are the beautiful folk words honoring Bat Trang ceramic & pottery quality, the pride of northern Vietnam
Bat Trang, a small village in the north of Vietnam, is about 13 kilometers south east of Hanoi center, on the other side of Chuong Duong Bridge.

Why is its name popular to most tourists to northern Vietnam? The answer is its ever famous ceramic and pottery products of high quality. If you have known about Vietnam, you may not be surprised that Bat Trang’s vases, bowls, dishes, and many other kinds of ceramic products have been exported worldwide. Should you would like to contemplate workers making ceramic products by hand, just come here! What’s more, you can also try it yourself!

Bat Trang village is said to be established in 14th or 15th century in several documents. However, according to the villagers, the village perhaps appeared earlier. There are always two stories concerning the village origin.

One of these tells that under Ly dynasty, in 1100, when the nation was in its independence and initial growth period, there were 3 scholars who came back from their mission trip to China bringing the ceramic craft industry learned there back to Vietnam and taught the people of Bat Trang.

In the other story, in the village history dates back to the 10th century, when King Ly Cong Uan relocated the capital in Thang Long. With the establishment and development of the capital, many businessmen, crafters from many areas come to settle down here to work and trade. In Bat Trang, there was a lot of white clay, so that many potters, among who was Nguyen Ninh Trang family, came and built the kilns here.

Accordingly, Bat Trang has gradually changed from a normal ceramic and pottery village into a famous ceramic and pottery centre until now.

In conclusion, people increasingly spend their leisure time using Internet because it is a helpful tool where people can learn new things and keep informed of information around the world. Internet turns the world into the speed generation. As the Internet saves us much time, we can have enough time to do other things. The internet is a marvelous creation in this generation.

My best friend is my classmate at school. She and I have been studying together since we entered school in kindergarten. We have studied together all these years. We also travel by the school bus together because we stay close to each other. Her home is only a ten minute walk from my place.

My friend is kindly and sweet-natured. We are always happy to be with each other. We enjoy studying, playing and eating together. If I am sad she will do all she can to make me smile and feel happy.

She has always been kind and helpful to me. When I miss school because I am unwell she comes to my place to share with me all that has been done at school. When she misses school I too help her with all that has been covered at school. We also play badminton together in the evenings.

My bedroom is the most comfortable place in my house. It becomes my favorite room since I lived in this house five years ago. Actually it is not too large, the width is just 4 x 4 meters, but it is clean enough. It looks like a small cottage with a bed placed in the corner of this room. The color of the bed cover is pink, so soft and calm. On this bed, there are a pillow, a bolster, and 15 cute dolls that always accompany me when I am sleeping. If you enter to my bedroom, you can see a table and a chair next to the bed as my place for study. You can feel the wind blowing from a big window that always make my room cosy and bright near the bed. You can also see a beautiful garden that is full of wonderful flowers from this window. It can change your bad mood to become more cheerful. At the opposite of the window, there is a large cupboard with Bali’s carving. The carving is so smooth and gorgeous. It looks like a carving in the great temple. If you see around my bedroom, you will find a colorful wall. It is combination of attractive colors like pink, violet and blue. The colors are mixed perfectly and it shows the girlie room. It is also completed with some artificial flowers near the window that decorate my room beautifully. I like to spend my time in this room. For me my bedroom is my little palace.

My school is ten kilometers away from my home, and I go by the school bus every morning. I love to go to school. I learn so many new things at school every day. There are many different subjects I study at school. I study languages like Sanskrit, Hindi and English, and other subjects like mathematics, science and social studies.

My school is very beautiful. There are nice, lush gardens with beautiful plants and trees. In spring time the blooming flowers are a spectacle. My school has a well equipped library, and I enjoy reading books. There are also computers in the school for our use.

I love my school and my teachers. My teachers are very caring. They teach us with a great deal of patience, and they want us to become good and responsible human beings. I want to make my school and my teachers proud of me.

My best friend in high school is Lan. Lan sits next to me in class, eats with me at break time, and hangs out with me after school. She has long and beautiful hair; my mother always says that I need to pay more attention to my hair so it can be pretty as hers. I am good at English while Lan is excellent in Math, therefore we can help each other every time one of us has trouble in understanding those subjects. Besides our study, Lan is always by my side whenever I feel upset. I tell her everything, and only her can know my true feelings. We have been best friends since our young age, and I will keep this friendship forever.

I have a best friend named Linh, we have been together since we were just little kids. She has beautiful bright skin and brown eyes. We have a lot of things in common, such as we love the same band, food and books. She and I even share the same name, and it is a small surprise for anyone who has talked to us. Linh is not my classmate, but we always help each other with the homework and school projects. Nhung là môt người ban thân của tôi, phải nói như thế vì tôi không có nhiều bạn và bạn ấy cũng vậy. Nhung hầu như chỉ chơi thân với tôi bởi có lẽ tôi là người chịu được cái tính ít nói của cô, còn cô bạn ấy thì nhất quyết là người duy nhất chịu được cái tính nói liên hồi của tôi. Thật thú vị là tôi và Nhung không chỉ khác nhau về tính cách mà còn khác nhau cả về hình dáng bên ngoài. Trái với cái vẻ còm nhom như xác ve của tôi là một thân hình béo tròn, đầy đặn trông rất dễ thương của Nhung. Nhung có đôi mắt to và nâu, một màu nâu hạt dẻ xinh đẹp, khuôn mặt tròn trắng trẻo thường hồng lên mỗi khi bị tôi trêu chọc. Cặp lông mày sâu róm khi tức giận lại nhăn lên trông thật ngộ. Đặc biệt, bạn hay mỉm cười khi nghe tôi nói chuyện nên tôi chưa bao giờ có cảm giác mình đang độc thoai cả.

Trong câu chuyện "Sơn Tinh, Thủy Tinh", nhân vật Sơn Tinh để lại trong em ấn tượng sâu sắc. Sơn Tinh sống ở núi Tản Viên, có tài năng rất kì lạ: vẫy tay về phía đông, phía đông nổi cồn bãi, vẫy tay về phía tây thì liền mọc lên từng dãy núi đồi. Chàng thật tài giỏi, đã nhanh chóng tìm được lễ vật quý báu mà nhà vua chọn làm sính lễ. Chàng đã chiến đấu kiên cường, bất khuất với Thủy Tinh có tính hung hăng. Dù Thủy Tinh hô mưa, gọi gió, dâng nước ngập lên đến thành Phong Châu thì Sơn Tinh cũng không hề nao núng mà kiên trì bốc núi, dời đồi suốt mấy tháng trời để ngăn dòng nước lũ. Sơn Tinh đã cứu nhân nhân ta thoát khỏi bão lũ, em rất khâm phục. Em mong Sơn Tinh luôn vững vàng để người dân không rơi và cảnh mưa gió, lũ lụt hằng năm.
