1. Each of these sentences contains a mistake. Cross out the mistake and write the correct word or words at the end of the sentence.

1 Living in the countryside is having manyadvantages. Is having  has

I’m feeling -> I feel that cities are dirty, noisy andexpensive places.

3 Winters in my city are hard because it’ssnowing -> it snows a lot.

4 City life becoming -> becomes more and more expensive.

I’m -> I study English at a language school in myhome town.

6 People generally are believing -> believe that country lifeis healthier than city life.

7 The city council is build -> builds lots of new apartmentblocks in the suburbs.

I’m not liking -> I don't like small towns because there’snothing to do.

2. Complete the passage with the correct form of the verbs in the box (present simple or present continuous).

be (x3) become have (x2) like live look meet play rise sit stay think watch

live in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.I have a small flat in the suburbs, but at themoment I am staying with my parents in the citycentre because my mother is ill and I look after her until she gets better.I think that Buenos Aires is a really lively andexciting city, and I like it here a lot. Citylife in general has lots of advantages. There are always so many things to see and do.One of the things I enjoy the most is something called ‘people watching’. So right now I am sitting onmy parents’ balcony and watching people in thestreet below. In theevenings I meet my friends for ameal, or sometimes we play volleyball inone of the city parks. Of course, there are bad sides to the city as well. It becomes moreand more crowded, for example, and the crime rate rises because there are a lot of people out ofwork.
