Cách dùng thì hiện tại đơn1. Thì hiện tại đơn diễn đạt một thói quen hay hành động lặp đi lặp lại trong thời điểm hiện tại2. Thì hiện tại đơn diễn tả 1 chân lý, 1 sự thật hiển nhiên  3. Diễn tả 1 sự việc xảy ra theo thời gian biểu cụ thể, như giờ tàu, máy bay chạy hay một lịnh trình nào đó.4. Diễn tả trạng thái, cảm giác, cảm xúc của một chủ thể nào đóDấu hiệu nhận biết thì hiện tại đơn1. Khi trong câu xuất hiện các trạng từ chỉ tần suất Always, usually, often, sometimes, frequently, s seldom, rarely, hardly, never , generally, regularly,….Every day, week, month, year,…Once, twice, three times, four times….. a day, week, month, year,…2. Vị trí của các trạng từ chỉ tần suất trong câu thì hiện tại đơn. 

Các Trạng từ này thường đứng trước động từ thường, đứng sau động từ to be và trợ động từ (Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, seldom,…).
