Thường thì một năm có bốn mùa, đó là quy luật tự nhiên mà chắc chắn sẽ không ai có thể thay đổi được. Mỗi mùa dều có đặc diểm riêng biệt không giống nhau như: mùa xuân mát mẻ muôn hoa khoe sắc thắm. Mùa hè là mùa của nhửng bông hoa phượng vĩ, bằng lăng- mùa học sinh tạm biệt mái trường. Mùa thu dưới ánh trăng huyền ảo chúng em có thể rước đèn họp bạn. Nhưng có lẽ mùa đông là đặc biệt nhất vì cái lạnh buốt, gió bấc và mưa phùn. Bây giờ đang là mùa đông và là ngày lạnh nhất trong năm.
Nằm cuộn tròn trong chiếc chăn bông ấm áp mà em không muốn giậy vì lẽ trời quá lạnh, từ trong phòng có thể nghe thấy tiêng gió rít từng cơn. Ra khỏi phòng sương mù giày đặc, bầu trời âm u. Lác đác vài chiếc lá vàng đang rơi xuống cùng với những hạt mưa tinh nghịch. Cây cối khẳng khiu trơ trọi như đang cố gắng chống lại sức mạnh của thiên nhiên. Ngoài đường loáng thoáng vài bóng người trong những bộ quần áo bông ấm áp và khoác ngoài là chiếc áo mưa. Hôm nay học sinh ở các trường cũng đã được nghỉ học. Dến sáu giờ tối thì ánh sáng nhường lại cho màn đêm yên tĩnh, chỉ có mùa đông mới có hiện tượng ngày ngắn đêm dài như vậy. Bàu trời lúc này âm u, ít sao và nhiều sương mù hơn ban sáng. Mưa phùn lất phấn tạt qua. Ánh đèn đã tắt hẳn bầu không khí trở nên tĩnh mịch hơn, chỉ còn tiếng chó sủa từ xa vang vọng lại.
Em rất thích mùa đông vì có thể ngôi bên ánh lửa bập bùng. Được nhìn cảnh vật như khác lạ. Mọi người bảo mùa đông năm nay lạnh hơn mọi năm nhưng được sông trong ngôi nhà ấm áp tình yêu thương thì em có thẻ nói mùa đông không lạnh.

Tạm biệt mùa thu ấm áp, trời đã chuyển sang mùa đông từ bao giờ em cũng không biết rõ chỉ cảm nhận được rằng gió mùa đông bắc thổi ngày một nhiều và cả xóm làng nơi em ở đều chìm vào trong sương mù vào những sáng sớm mùa đông.

Mùa đông – mùa của cái lạnh mà người ta có thể nói là cắt da cắt thịt, thậm chí ở nhiều nơi còn có tuyết, nước lạnh giá như đóng băng, cây cối thì không còn vẻ tươi trẻ, xanh tốt như mùa xuân và mùa hè nữa, tất cả đều cằn cỗi nghèo nàn. Cuộc sống sinh hoạt của mọi người trong xóm em nói riêng và của những người ở những vùng lạnh nói chung cũng có sự thay đổi khi thời tiết chuyển từ mùa này sang mùa kia.

Mùa đông thì mặt trời mọc muộn hơn so với mùa hè, vì vậy việc cảm nhận rằng trời đã sáng hay chưa cũng có sự thay đổi, vào mùa hè khoảng năm giờ sáng là ta đã có thể nhìn rõ được cảnh vật, nhưng còn mùa đông thì năm giờ trời vẫn còn tối như ban đêm, và tối cũng vậy, trời sẽ nhanh tối hơn vào mùa đông.

Ta thường nghe có câu: “Đêm tháng năm chưa nằm đã sáng/ Ngày tháng mười chưa cười đã tối” là như vậy, tháng năm thuộc mùa hè và tháng mười thuộc mùa đông. Xóm em ở là một xóm nhỏ dưới chân núi, vào những sáng sớm mùa đông một làn sương mù bao phủ lấy cả xóm, mọi người thức dậy muộn hơn, chúng em cũng vậy, vào mùa đông nhà trường sẽ lùi thời gian học lại muộn hơn nên chúng em cũng không phải dậy sớm, trời lạnh thì ai muốn chui ra khỏi cái chăn ấm cơ chứ, mọi người phải mặc quần áo thật ấm, thường thì nhà em có bếp củi và mọi người cùng ngồi quay quần để sưởi ấm, ai có công việc gì hay chúng em đi học thì phải chuẩn bị đầy đủ tất, găng tay,mũ len, quần áo ấm rồi mới ra đường. Gió mùa đông bắc thổi đều đặn mang đến cảm giác tê tái da thịt, mùa đông cũng có nắng nhưng những tia nắng rất yếu ớt, và đặc biệt hay có mưa phùn.

Những cành cây trơ trọi lá, khẳng khiu, rau cỏ mùa này thường không mọc được vì lạnh quá. Mùa đông hay có những đợt rét đậm, rét hại và mọi người xem ti vi thấy rất nhiều gia súc chết vì không chịu nổi lạnh, mỗi nhà lại tìm những cách khác nhau để bảo vệ đàn gia súc nhà mình. Em hay xem dự báo thời tiết và hay thấy những nơi nhiệt độ xuống thấp quá nên có tuyết, mặc dù lạnh nhưng nhìn thật đẹp. Sau một ngày làm việc mọi người trở về nhà và quây quần bên mâm cơm thật ấm cúng.

Mùa đông thật lạnh nhưng thiếu nó thì sao còn có thể gọi là bốn mùa, có nóng thì phải có lạnh. Xuân qua thì hè tới, thu tàn rồi đến đông cứ như thế bốn mùa tuần hoàn nhau tạo nên sự đa dạng của thời tiết.
