I think because they're too young to mention about what they will do in the future (just like me, I'm in grade in 6 lol). Many other classmates just said to me exactly one sentence: "Nah, we don't care about those stupid grown-up things!". If "young people" you've been said are 23 or older, then they are probably have nothing to do in their lives. Because they don't prepare for their own future.
