Tet holiday is the most important celebration for Vietnamese people. Tet is a festival which happens in late January or early February. In my hometown, to prepare for tet, people spend a few days cleaning or decorating their houses.  They want everything in their houses must be cleaned to get the good in new year and get rid off the bad luck in the old year. They often go to the market to buy watermelon seeds, candies, jam...and cook traditional food. They also buy marigolds, peach blossoms which are traditional flowers on Tet holiday. During Tet,children wear new clothes and receive lucky money from the older after giving to them greeting Tet. Tet is a time for family member to have special meals with special food such as sticky rice cake, boiled chickens, spring rolls, Banh Tet...During the time of Tet, the streets are very crowded and noisy because of streams of people. They spend time visiting their relatives, their friends..Some people go to pagoda to pray for happiness in the new year.

Tet is a traditional holiday of Vietnam. Before Tet Holiday,I buy some new clothes, decorate and clean your house. The meaning of Tet is ending old year and welcome a new year. At Tet, I will go to the Pagoda with my mum to wish the happiness for my family. On Tet holiday, people have many recreational activities. Young persons take part in the traditional games such as: tug of war, cooking rice, cock fighting, watching lion dance. It's very interesting! At midnigt, I will watch firework with my family and then get lucky money from my relative. However, I will play cards all night with some my friend and talk together. I think I will have an inresting years

Tet is one of the most important festival in VietNam. It’s held every year at the end of January or early February. Some weeks before Tet, Vietnamese clean their houses and paint their wall. They buy peach blossoms. Kumquat, flowers to decorate their houses. New clothes are bought on the occasion. One or two days before Tet, people make Chung cake - the traditional food, sticky rice, spring rolls and other spcial food. On the New Year, every family cook a spcial meals and prepare five fruit tray to worship their ancestors to pray for a better year. On the first day of New Year, people go out. Children receive lucky money wrapped in red envelop. Some one go to the pagoda. Some other visit their relatives and family.

I love TET so much because it is time for all members of my family gather to chat or have meals together

Tet is a traditional holiday of our country, Vietnam. It often begins in late-January and ends in early-February. With the meaning of seeing the old year off and welcoming the new year, Tet becomes a special occasion of reunion for Vietnamese families. At that time, all family members try to come back to their home and get together to make such preparations for Tet as buying new clothes and cleaning their house. A branch of apricot blossoms or a Kumquat tree is indispensable decoration for every family in these days. They seem like a fresh air to the house. We display a tray full of fruits and vases of flowers on the ancestral altar. Some typical Tet's food are sweets, coconut jam, fruit candies, melon seeds, stew pork with eggs, and especially sticky rice cake. Tet meals are usually bigger and more delicious than our daily ones. On Tet holiday, people have many recreational activities. Young persons take part in the traditional games such as: tug of war, cooking rice, cock fighting, watching lion dance. Many people visit relatives to wish a happy new year. Adults will give lucky money to children. Woman like going to pagoda to wish good things for their family. In my opinion, I like cozy and fresh Tet atmosphere. All family members gather and talk about resolutions for a happy new year. I can hang out with my friend and don't worry about anything. " Tet" holiday is always in Vietnamese's heart.

Tet is the time when the Lunar calendar year begins which usually fall between mid January to mid February.

People start the arrangement to celebrate this festival about one month prior to Tet which includes cooking traditional foods, cleaning their house and buying new furnitures, etc.

On the Lunar New Year’s Eve, people gather together, makes prayers and stay awake till late night to enjoy the night.

During Tet, there are several customs that make Tet a unique festival. For instance, adults tend to give lucky money to children, visit friend and relatives’ houses, play cards, and going to churches, temples or pagodas to make good prays for their family.

This is an important festival to us. Vietnamese take this day as an important festival day. In our tradition, we start the year with the hope of eliminating the bitterness and failure of the past year and start a fresh year with the hope of fortune and happiness.
