The Temple of Literature and the Imperial Academy is about 10 minutes away from Hoan Kiem Lake by bus . It is located at 58 Quoc Tu Giam Street , Dong Da District , Hanoi . When you enter the main gate , you can see five courtyards after going throught the main gate : Khue Van Pavilion in the second courtyard , the Doctor s' stone tables in the third courtyard , anh Thai Hoc House in the last courtyard , used as the Imperial Academy . Khue Van Pavilion was chosen as the symbol of Ha Noi . Emperor Tran Minh Tong invited Chu Van An to become the principal of the Imperial Academy . In 2010 , the 82 Doctor s ' stone tables were recognized by UNESCO as a Memory of the Word .
The Temples of Literature opens at 8 : 30 am - 11.30 am anh 1.30 pm - 4.30pm every day except Monday and national holidays . If you visit the temple at the beginning of the year or in May , you will see many students come and rub the tortoise heads . They believe it will bring them good luck
