Every day many road accidents happen in big cities. Some accidents cause injures but some lead (1) death. Everyone, especially children, must learn how to cross the road. A simple code to remember is "STOP,LOOK AND LISTEN BEFORE YOU CROSS"
Parents and teachers (2) educate children on road safety. Most schools have their own School Road Safety Patrols. The School Road Safety Patrol is a uniformed group. It recruits secondary school(3) as members. Students in senior forms help fellow students cross the road corectly and safety on their way to and from school
When you go out alone, however, what is the best way to (4) the road? First you must find a safe place to cross . These may be subways, footbridges, zebra or green man crossings. Of course, it is safest to be directed(5) a policeman. Then you should stand on the pavement where you can see clearly all the directions, look around for the traffic and listen. If a car, (6) coming, you ought to let it pass. When there is no(7) near, walk straight across the road. Do not run as you may trip!Roads are dangerous. Also, watch your body language; it can affect your communication whether you are the speaker or the listener. For instance, don't sit slumped in a chair or make nervous hand and foot movements. Be relaxed and bend your body slightly forward to show interest in the person and the conversation.
