To find extreme viewpoints, I need look no further than my own family. My family has members whose opinions vary widely. These opinions often result in interesting conversations, debates, and occasional disagreements at family gatherings. Two contrasting members of my family are my brother and my father. I understand both of them fairly well, but their attempts to understand each other are less successful. My father and my older brother sometimes assume diametrically different viewpoints.

My brother is artistic and creative while my father is pragmatic and technically minded. One of the more humorous differences between them is their taste in music. My brother is a born musician who loves music with soul. On the other hand, my father is a scientist and listens to Cheo.

Another often humorous difference between my father and brother is the way they wear their hair. My brother wears his hair down to his shoulders. My father, on the other hand, always gets his hair cut when it begins to touch his collar. When my father was growing up in the sixties, all men wore short hair. However, my brother grew up during the twenties when people were more liberal in the way they dressed. The length of my brother's hair bothers my father.

Although my brother and father disagree on many things, they manage to get along very well. Both of them are open-minded and can appreciate each other's differences.

In the cities of the future, there are many things that can help people to live a long and healthy life. However, access to green spaces and parks is arguably the most important. Green spaces can provide people with a place to exercise, relax, and enjoy nature, which can all contribute to improved mental and physical health. They can also help to mitigate the negative effects of pollution and noise, which are common in urban environments. Additionally, green spaces can promote social interaction and community cohesion, which can have positive effects on mental health. Therefore, it is important for future cities to prioritize the creation and maintenance of green spaces and parks to promote the health and well-being of their residents.

Our cultural heritage is a traditional craft that has been passed down from generation to generation in our community. To preserve it, we can organize workshops to teach the craft to younger generations. We can also hold exhibitions and fairs to showcase the craft to a wider audience and sell products made by local artisans. Another idea is to create a digital platform that connects artisans with customers and promotes their work.

Overall, we believe that it's important to involve younger generations in the preservation of cultural heritage and find ways to promote it to a wider audience. By doing so, we can ensure that our traditions and customs continue to thrive and evolve over time.

Human is the direct factor that causes global warming and makes this phenomenon more and more serious. The reason is because the increase in CO2 content is mainly due to human activities, such as fuel burning, the reduction in agricultural land use, especially after the industrial revolution.

Helping limited global warming, we should:

1. Drive less

Walk, bike, carpool or take mass transit more often. You'll save one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don't drive!

2. Avoid products with a lot of packaging

You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you reduce your garbage by 10 percent.

3. Plant more trees

A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.

4. Turn off electronic devices

Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer, when you're not using them, will save you thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

In my opinion, the skills and experience SSEAYP participants should have, ranked in order of importance, are:

1. Good English language skills

2. Understanding different cultures

3. Teamwork skills

4. Community work experience

5. Confident speaking skills

6. Understanding current issues in ASEAN countries.

Having good English language skills is essential since it's the working language of the program. Understanding different cultures is also important for effective communication. Teamwork skills are necessary for completing tasks and solving problems. Community work experience can be helpful in developing practical skills. Confident speaking skills are important for presenting ideas in front of an audience. Understanding current issues in ASEAN countries is important, but it is the least important skill or experience since the program focuses on cultural exchange and developing skills for the future.

Skills studying abroad will give you

1. Intercultural communication and language

While you’re studying abroad, you will gain intercultural communication skills from interacting with people from different cultures.

2. Cultural awareness

Cultural awareness is a skill achieved from studying abroad when you really make an effort to understand the new country and its culture that you’re living in. Being culturally sensitive is a crucial part to being able to adapt to, or being flexible with, foreign surroundings.

3. Self-awareness

A more heightened self-awareness can be triggered while studying abroad as you begin to settle into your new home. When you find yourself in situations that are unfamiliar to you, you become more vulnerable. This vulnerability forces you to assess who you are and will maybe even make it more clear who or what you want to be.

4. Adaptability

Learning the local language, trying cultural dishes, understanding laws, customs, learning how to use money and how to use different transportation systems, are just a few things you’ll have to learn and to which you’ll have to adapt.

5. Empathy

Visiting historical sites, walking along ancient roads, and (most importantly) talking and connecting with people of different cultures all teach you empathy. When you get to interact with others and hear their stories, you will find that humans share much more in common than you thought—even if you grew up on literal opposite sides of the world.

6. Confidence

Your confidence can come from a lot of things, but it all comes down to challenging yourself and learning new things while abroad. Something as simple as learning to navigate the local transportation system, or how to order food in another language will make you more confident in yourself and your capability.

7. Problem solving and a sense of responsibility

Maybe you got lost walking to class or had a set back trying to learn the local transportation system. You will be responsible for thinking out of the box through these challenges, and oftentimes on your own. Being responsible for managing things on your own is an important skill you’ll gain (and practice) from studying abroad.

8. Independence

Living abroad in a different country with unfamiliar cultural norms can be daunting. But, you will learn how to be independent by facing and working through challenges (and life) on your own, and you’ll become more comfortable with your potential.

9. Maturity

The more you experience, learn, and grow throughout life (and accept the fact that it’s necessary), the more mature you will become. All of the skills learned from studying abroad can be used together in any combination to show you’re mature.

When returning home from studying abroad, you may feel different, changed. You may even learn more about yourself and see your own culture and home in a different light. Plus, the experiences and skills gained from study abroad can be used to your advantage in terms of your future career.

Some additional tips for cooking rice in a rice cooker that can be discussed in your group:

1. Use a rice washing bowl to rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking. This will remove excess starch and impurities from the rice.

2. Soak the rice in water for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This will help the rice to cook evenly and absorb moisture better.

3. For brown rice, use 2 1/2 cups of water per cup of rice, and cook for a longer time than white rice.

4. Once the rice is cooked, let it sit in the rice cooker for 10-15 minutes before serving. This will allow the rice to absorb any remaining moisture and become fluffier.

5. Use a non-stick rice cooker bowl or add a tablespoon of oil to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the bowl.
