Community service is a non-paying job performed by one person or a group of people for the benefit of the community or its institutions. Performing community service is not the same as volunteering, since it is not always performed on a voluntary basis. It may be performed for a variety of reasons:
It may be required by a government as a part of citizenship requirements, generally in lieu of military service. It may be required as a substitution of, or in addition to, other criminal justice sanctions – when performed for this reason it may also be referred to as community payback. It may be mandated by schools to meet the requirements of a class, such as in the case of service-learning or to meet the requirements of graduating as class valedictorian. In the UK, it has been made a condition of the receipt of certain benefits, including disability-related ones. (see Workfare in the United Kingdom) In Sweden it's a suspended sentence called "samhällstjänst" ("society service").
I think community service is very important in social life. As you know, our social life has both the rich and the poor people. So it is necessary for us to take part in volunteer activities to help poor people and elderly people.
one, it is easy for us to collect clothes which we don't need for poor and needy people. Besides, we can join in volunteer activities in our country on Tet, Summer,etc. We spend some time talking with older people, share wih poor children. through this activities, it helps me develop better leadership skills by orgnizing fund raising, food drives and so on.
Do you think give blood? oh, i think that we ought to give blood every year because many people are in need them.
