“I love you”

On 3^rd May 2000, millions of people around the world were (1) ______ an e-mail called “I love you”. The e-mail included a document called “Love letter for you”. When people opened this document, a (2) ______ destroyed hundreds of vital documents on their computer. The virus then sent a (3) ______ of itself to everybody in the e-mail address book. The virus infected millions of computer systems across the world. Even computers in the White House in the USA were affected by the crash. The virus eventually caused about 10 billion dollars of (4) ______ .

The person (5) ______ created the virus was probably a brilliant 23-year-old computer student from the Philippines (6) ______ Onel de Guzman. He has never admitted his guilt, but detectives know that the virus came from his computer. Onel de Guzman was not charged with any crime because in May 2000 the Philippines did not have any laws (7) ______ computer crime.

Onel de Guzman did not finish his studies at computer school. He now lives with his sister and (8) ______ his time watching TV programs he likes, reading books about computers and playing video games. In order to help solve the problem of pollution, people have to be aware of its causes, some of which are quite obvious in everyday life.
