1 Last weekend I went to a gallery in London with my parents. There was a big exhibition of modern art on that they wanted to see. I really wasn’t particularly keen to go as I’m not a big fan of modern art, but I like to keep an open mind and was prepared to revise my opinion. So I went along with them. The artist, who’s already quite famous, had created some sculptures using everyday objects from around her home. My parents loved it, but although one or two of the sculptures were quite interesting, I didn’t really understand what the artist was trying to say. I’ll think of an excuse if my parents ask me again.
2 Last summer I went to a music festival with a group of friends. It was the first time I’d been to a festival. I wasn’t planning on going but a friend had a spare ticket. Anyway, I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately it rained most of the time and the field we were camping in turned into a sea of mud! I didn’t mind that really, but I thought the music would be better. The bands weren’t particularly well known and the one band I was looking forward to seeing cancelled at the last minute. Despite that, we’ve agreed to go again next year.
3 Last month I went to the theatre with my family. We saw a play called An Inspector Calls by J. B. Priestly. We’re studying the play at school. It’s a bit boring and I’d already seen it a couple of times on DVD, but mum convinced me that it would be a good idea to see it again. Anyway, it was as bad as I’d feared. It was a local amateur theatre company and the acting was pretty awful. I suppose it didn’t do me any harm though. Seeing a live performance at the theatre has helped me to get to know the play a bit better.
4 I hardly ever watch or listen to musicals – maybe about once a year, if that. But last weekend I went to see Mamma Mia! in London. I’m a big ABBA fan and I’d been meaning to go and see it for ages. I asked lots of friends to come along, but only two agreed. Anyway, I booked really good seats right at the front. It was an amazing experience! As I expected, the music was fantastic, as were the singers and dancers. I’m going to go again, but I need to find someone else to go with as my friends weren’t so impressed by it.

Talk about a city you want to visit
a. Where is it? b. What do you know about this city? c. How do you go there? d. When do you want to visit there? e. Why do you want to visit it?
It’s a coastal city named Nha Trang which is considered as a sprawling city. It’s quite compact and you could walk across the city in a couple of hours but actually, there’s no need to do that as we have a fantastic public transport system so it’s easy to get around.
I visited this peaceful city 1 year ago when I was on my summer holiday to dispel the extreme heat of the sun. I came along the sandy beach to enjoy the fresh air of the wind and the salty taste of sea water. I felt all my daily stress and hardness set aside. I also dropped by some upmarket shops and chain stores in the centre but only for window shopping. Pavement cafes everywhere surprised me most where I could take a cup of cafe whenever I wanted.
I am definitely keen on living in this city due to many reasons. Firstly, it is such a worth-living city because of its peace, cleanliness and beauty. I can see the colorful lifestyle of Nha Trang people. Secondly, this charming city attracts a lot of foreign visitors, so I can learn many things from them.
I think that if I have a chance, I will definitely try to live in this city for some years before settling down in Ha Noi capital.
VIESample Answer
I love traveling and exploring new places. Today, I’m going to talk about a foreign city I wish to visit. It’s London, the capital of United Kingdom. Since London is about 7000 km from my hometown, the only viable modes of transport to reach there are water and air. If I were to choose between these two modes, I’d prefer a flight because it’ll take less time as compared to a cruise. From safety and economic points of view as well, I think going by air is definitely the better option.
Talking about the time when I’ll go to London, I haven’t yet decided, maybe in summer this year. I don’t know who I’d take with me but it would probably be some people that are close to me, I feel that visiting a new place is more fun if you’re with your family or friends. I’ll have a word with my parents and friends, whoever wants to come with me is welcome.
Coming to the many reasons why I want to visit London, I guess the main reason would be my fascination with history and art. You see, London is one of the oldest multicultural cities in the world. I’ve read about the changes which transformed this city into a center of history, art, business, and education through many of its conquests of the world. And thus, London is home to world-class museums and art galleries, all having a different and unique story behind them.
Other than that London also happens to have the oldest underground railway system in the world. To visit the most popular tourist attractions of London has been on my bucket list for a long time. These include the London Bridge, National Art Gallery, and the British Museum. I’ve heard that the bakeries in London are some of the best out there. I’d love to see what they have to offer.
Hope that ya study well^^

When Jane and Clive Green stopped working, they decided to go on a trip to Spain in their yacht. They expected to be away for about a week - but in the end, they continued travelling for sixteen years! After they reached Spain in their ten-metre yacht, they did not fancy returning home, so they kept sailing. After crossing the Atlantic, they stopped to explore the islands of the Caribbean for a while. Then they continued to sail west around the world. They ended up visiting 56 countries. They particularly enjoyed swimming with seals near the Galápagos Islands. However, they remembered feeling very anxious near Somalia because a boat would not stop following them. It was actually a fishing boat with an injured man on board, so Jane offered to help him before they continued on their way. They managed to pay for their trip by selling their house back in the UK. They could afford to buy food, but they ran out of money on an island near Fiji. Fortunately, a local woman agreed to give them a box of fruit and vegetables in exchange for some clothes.
If I had been on a trip like this, I would have enjoyed it. Traveling the world on a yacht for sixteen years would be an exciting and adventurous experience, with the opportunity to explore different cultures, landscapes, and wildlife. Swimming with seals near the Galápagos Islands would be a memorable experience and visiting 56 countries would be an incredible achievement
Read the passage carefully and choose the correct answers
Traveling is one of the most popular forms of recreation in the USA. Most American employees receive an annual vacation with pay, and it is a good time off for traveling. Traveling within the country is popular because foreign travel generally takes more time and money. However, Americans who wish to vacation outside the USA are free to go almost anywhere. Obtaining a passport is a routine matter. Every year about 13 million Americans travel abroad. The most popular vacation periods are during the summer and during the two-week school break on the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. These periods are also the most crowded and generally the most expensive time to travel, so people who can adjust their schedules sometimes choose vacation in the autumn. American vacationers often travel by car. Most families have a car, and those who do not have a car can rent one. Cars are usually the economical way to travel, especially for the families. It is also fairly fast and convenient. Excellent highways connect the major cities. They enable vacationers to travel at an almost steady speed of 55 to 65 miles an hour. Tourists that want to travel faster often fly to their destination and then rent a car to go around when they get there.
