Da nang is a central city since 1996, located in the South Central region of Vietnam, which is a major center of economics, politics, culture, society, education and training, science and technology. The origin of "Da Nang" is the deformation of ancient Cham daknan, meaning large waters [3] or "big rivers", "estuaries." [4] In 1835, with the Minh Mang Emperor, Cua Han (now called Da Nang) became the largest trading port in Central Vietnam. After completing the invasion of Vietnam in 1889, the French separated Da Nang from Quang Nam and renamed Tourane to mark the birth of the city. After the August Revolution, the city was renamed Thai Phien. [4] In 1950, France returned Da Nang to the Bao Dai government. In 1967, Da Nang was designated by the South Vietnamese Government as a centrally governed city. [5] After 1975, Danang is a city directly under Quang Nam - Da Nang. On November 6, 1996, the Ninth National Assembly passed the resolution to split Quang Nam - Da Nang into Quang Nam province and Da Nang city under the central government. Accordingly, Da Nang city, besides the mainland, also includes Hoang Sa district. [6] After the 1974 Paracel War, the People's Republic of China controlled the entire Paracel Islands and proclaimed their territory. [7] At present, both Vietnam, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China (Taiwan) claim sovereignty over the islands. [8] [9] [10]
The Prime Minister signed a decision approving the adjustment of the general planning of Da Nang city up to 2030 with a vision to 2050. The objective of developing Danang into a national, modern city; Vision to 2050, building and developing Da nang into a special national-level city, towards international-level urban and sustainable development.
