I went on an exchange program to Australia for a semester and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. During my time in the exchange program, I had to face some challenges. At first, it was stressful to communicate with the locals as my English was not good enough. However, I tried to be positive and open-minded, and I gradually improved my English skills. The cultural differences were also a challenge, but I found it fascinating to learn new customs and traditions. I lived with a host family who treated me like one of their own and showed me around the city. I had the chance to travel around Sydney on the weekends and holidays. To my surprise, I didn’t have to deal with homesickness. Some of my friends were scared of being away from their family for an extended period of time, so they felt lonely and left out throughout the program. I was able to keep in touch with my family and friends through social media, as well as making new friends from around the world. Overall, it was definitely challenging sometimes, but it was worth it in the end.
