Before that they have lived in villages or small towns by the sea or in the mountains. This is why it is not unusual to hear even young children who they have lived in cities all their lives are talking about 'their village'. What they mean is the place where their parents were grew up or previous generations of their family lived. Even today although 'the village' is an important part of the lives of the majority of people who now make their living in cities. As a result, people from different countries in the world have a greater  amount understanding of each other. which can only be a good thing. Tourists also spend  lots of money and this is very good for the economies of the coutries they visit. In fact, it  not having money from tourism would cause some countries major problems.
