Dear Nhi

We’re having a good time here in Ho Chi Minh City, but the weather isn’t very nice. It rained almost every day, many streets were flooded. So I limited to go out. And there were too many traffic jams. There are many vehicles at rush hours and traffic jams occur frequently. It was more terrible when it rained heavily. However I also had great time when visiting some places. I went camping in Suoi Tien Park, I swam shallow in the artificial sea. If you went the War Remnants Museum and Reunification Palace, you would see a lot of physical reminders of the past. My feeling is very great and very difficult to describe. My period in Ho Chi Minh City was short and because of objective reasons, so I only visited those places. Tell you something, when I come back, we talk to each other more.

Yours sincerely,

Nhan

Amidst the immense mountains and forests of Lam Dong province, Dalat, a beautiful town, captivates all those who have been there once. I am one of those.

Dalat is often called the City of Eternal Spring. Flowers of all colors, with many species, the most numerous of which are orchids. More than anywhere else in Vietnam, Dalat sees flowers vie with one another in blossoming in spring. I used to get up early in the morning on fine days to welcome dawn on the highlands. Opening the windows, I had a breath-taking view of nature, and enjoyed the fragrance of wild flowers carried by the clouds, I felt relieved in my heart.

In the late afternoons, I often reserved for visits to the Valley of Love and Sigh Lake covered with quiet pine forests. Twilight on Dalat also brought many pictures and sensations. As a certain poet said, “Dalat is the city of honeymoon, the city of love”.

After two week is rest in Dalat, my health improved a lot. I think in the very near future Dalat will be Switzerland in the South-East Asia. The wind rustling through the pine forests, the roar of waterfalls, the chirping of birds and the clatter of horse ‘s hooves…all of these unforgettable memories always remain with me.

Today, I will tell you about my dream home. My dream house is a large seaside villa. It will be surrounded by the ocean and the jungle, and it will be a very quiet place with no distractions. In front of the house will be a wide and wide sea. There is also a clear lake nearby where I can have fun. My house will use solar energy, wind energy, and tidal energy, they are all harmless to the environment. It will have 6 rooms: bedroom, bathroom, toilet, living room, kitchen and dining room. I use high-tech machines and automatic machines such as robots and a smart TV with tags linked to the outside world, and of course the robots will be installed with high technology and modern. They will help me with housework and talk to me. Also, I live on the beach so I want the rooftop to be a great place to capture the seascape. That's what my future home is all about. How about you? Let me know your dream home

I live in a big house in the countryside and it is very beautiful. It has a living room, a kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the living room, there is a table, four chairs, a television and an air conditioner. My bedroom is very nice. There is a computer, a bed, a lamp and two pictures on the wall. And a bookshelf above the table, some teddy bears on the bed and a wardrobe. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a stove and a sink. Next to the kitchen is the bathroom. It has a shower, a washing machine and a tub. I love my house very much.

Writing a holiday postcard

One of the last things you hear from your friends or neighbours as you go away on holiday is "Send us a postcard!"

It's one of those great holiday traditions, almost as "British" as a bucket and a spade on a beach. We send postcards (often on the last day of the holiday) to tell our friends what a great time we're having.

Holiday postcards have three main characteriss. They're short, positive (even if it's raining) and predictable in their content.

Here's a quick guide to writing a postcard. Choose any one of the adjectives to complete your sentences.

Hi (name of friend / neighbour / colleague)

We're having a great / wonderful / fantas / fabulous time here in ......
The weather is hot / sunny / perfect and we're spending our days on the beach / sightseeing / relaxing / exploring the local area / by the pool.

The food is interesting / spicy / pretty good and the other people hare are (nationality), friendly / unfriendly / great.

See you on (day you get back)

Love/Wish you were here/ Best wishes
(your name)

Dear Minh !

How are you doing? I'm writing to you from Kołobrzeg at the Polish Seaside. I'm there with my family. We have a great time, though the weather isn't so good, as we'd like. Therefore we spent our first day on a campside, where we are staying. Yesterday morning we climbed up to the lighthouse and the view were really great. And in the afternoon we went to the beach, where we were sunbathing and we were having a bath in the Sea. Tomorrow we're taking a treepboat on the lake next to our campside and in the evening we are going shoping and then eating ice-cream. On Saturday we're buying some suvenires and on Sunday we're coming back home. Anyway, I'll tell you everything, when you will arrive to me next week. Hope to see you! Bye for now!

Best wishes

Dear Grace,How are you and your family getting on? I hope everyone is fine. I await with eager anticipation to share with you that I spend a family vacation on a tropical island ended up with this wonderful holiday trip to Tioman, a popular Malaysian island resort which shot to fame as the island of Bali Hai in the Rodger's & Hammerstein movie of 'South Pacific'. First day that we started our journey, we boarded the high-speed ferry from Kluang ferry terminal in Malaysia for the 2 hour journey to Tioman. I was so excited to be on my first boat ride but the excitement soon wore off once I was in the open sea with nothing much to see except the monotonous scenery of mainland Malaysia in the hazy distance. Out in the open water, the sky was blue and cloudless but in the distance, clouds hovered above Tioman. As we neared the island, visions of the legendary Bali Hai from the movie 'South Pacific' fleeted through my mind. Before long, the huge island of Tioman loomed before us, rising out of the water majestically with its peaks (some rising as high as 1000m) towering over us and surrounded by an emerald sea. We arrived at the jetty in front of Berjaya Tioman and had to clear immigration officials who had set up desks at the front and rear of the boat. After a long wait, we finally cleared immigration and boarded another boat which brought us to the jetty at Kampung Paya, where we got down and walked to Tioman Paya Resort, which would be our home for the next 4 nights. We had booked a 3 days 2 nights full-board package with two additional nights "free and easy". We visited the Tioman Marine Park. As it was a half-day trip, the resort provided packed lunches. My first experience seeing the fish's close-up was exciting. I had amazed that the fishes didn't have a natural fear of humans, unlike most terrestrial animals. They would hang around snorkels waiting for handouts and were even willing to be hand fed by visitors. Other fish species that weren't interested in bread simply swam around or were busy feeding on algae off rocks and corals. After visiting the Marine Park, the boats dropped us at Berjaya Tioman Island Resort where we had the afternoon free. The resort was big and had all the trimmings of a luxury resort: airstrip, golf course, shops and landscaped gardens. However, I noticed that the waters in front of Berjaya were full of dead coral rubble and there were few fishes here. Probably there is a sign of over-development in this part of Tioman. There was also a sign on the beach warning visitors to beware of jellyfish, although I didn't see any during my stay here. They were probably seasonal. During our "free and easy" part of the stay, I snorkeled around the house reefs at Paya beach. It was fascinating to observe the fishes and I also noticed a lot of black sea urchins on the seabed or wedged in rocks and crevices. They looked intimidating with their long spines and I had to be very careful not to touch them especially in shallow water. The Tioman Paya resort that we stayed was quite nice with its timber chalets blending into the surrounding. The air-conditioned rooms were clean and comfortable with solar heaters mounted on the roofs for hot water. Our particular chalet was located next to the forest. To get to the beach or main dining hall, we had to cross a little wooden bridge built over a river with mangrove trees fringing its banks. Monitor lizards would occasionally make their presence felt when they splashed into the water. There were many of them here and some were quite big. Each morning they would lie on the grass on the resort grounds, basking in the morning sunshine and running up the nearest tree when we approached too close. Meals were served in the common dining area, which also housed the other shared facilities, like TV, newspapers and other reading material. An ala-carte menu was also available. After 4 nights in Tioman, we reluctantly boarded our boat at Paya jetty which transferred us to the main jetty at Berjaya where we caught the high-speed ferry back to Kluang. My first holiday island trip had been a lot more enjoyable than expected, and I now looked forward to my next island destination that is Pulau Redang!Well, it's time to end this letter, and more will follow. Also, I would like to hear from all of you too. Take care!

Hi Ji-Yong

Greeting from Thai Binh in Vietnam. It's really fun here! We're at Mid- Autumn festival in my hometown. There are a lot of colorful lanterns here. This is the festival for not only kids but also the whole family. We are eating moon cakes and watching lion dancing. Wish you were here.

Love you,

Thao

What does a dream mean if taken on a scale of people’s life? Apparently, it means a lot; because people are used to hold on to their dreams, to protect them from the infringements of the other people, to strongly believe that without dreams their life will be ordinary and senseless.

Those people, who do not have any cherished dreams, even though they will never be able to make it come true, seem to be deprived of something special, just those people, who lack a sense of humor. The thing is, our ability to dream plays an important role in our life: it helps us, gives moral support, helps to believe in ourselves and to go through the difficulties and offences.

As for me, I’ve always dreamt about the voyage around the world and many times before going to bed I have imagined myself on a huge cruise vessel full of large luxurious boutiques, night clubs and other entertainments. Just imagine marvelous sunset and tranquil ocean; you are sitting in the Jacuzzi with a glass of champagne and admiring the scenery! Although I realize that I am still far from my dream, I’m working hard to make it come true!

Every person has the right to dream, though these dreams may be absolutely illusive, because there is nothing plain and simple in this world and the life will be bright, multi-colored and vivid only when we let us believe in it and see how changeable

Dear Mark,
Sorry for not writing earlier but I've been busy. I'm in New York now.
I arrived two days ago. New York is fantastic, it is too big for me so I lost my way the first day. I visited a lot of place and things like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.
The food is very good, I eat at restaurant every day. If one day you visited New York, I would suggest you to try hot dogs...they are very special.
Anyway, that's all for now.
Give my love to Monica.
Best wishes.
