Ooh, my favourite item of clothing! I’m not much of a clothes horse to be honest, I’m not very interested in fashion so at first, I thought this topic might be quite hard. However, I’ve thought of one. I’ll tell you what it is, when and why I bought it and why I like it so much.

The item is in itself unremarkable. It is a purple craghoppers’ long-sleeved shirt. It is made of a quick-drying poly cotton blend and the fabric has some stretchy qualities which make it easy to wear. The fabric keeps out the sun, and the design incorporates a couple of pockets, one of which has a zip so you can keep small items securely on your person. It is designed as a travel shirt, and to be honest, was rather expensive compared to clothes I would normally buy.

I bought the shirt online ahead of travelling to South East Asia. It was just coming out of winter in the UK, but I’d be going to a hot climate. I wanted something lightweight and comfortable to take with me. It was the wrong time of year to be browsing shops in England, they were all still full of winter clothes, so I just had to trust the description on the site that this would be a good buy, but I was nervous in case it didn’t fit or wasn’t practical. I shouldn’t have worried.

I LOVE this shirt. It is incredibly comfortable to wear, the colour suits me quite well, and even though it is designed as a travel shirt, it’s actually smart enough to wear for work if you match it with some respectable trousers (or a skirt I suppose, but I never wear skirts!). It washes brilliantly, and if you shake it out and put it on a hanger it dries crease-free within an hour or so. The hidden pocket is handy for carrying emergency cash on your person, and I like to have a hanky with me too – there is a pocket for that as well. Because the shirt is so comfy, and much harder wearing than I expected, I wore it almost all the time on my travels. This means that the shirt is now linked to very many happy memories of places I’ve been, people I’ve met and adventures I’ve had. I wish I’d bought loads of them at the same time. I’ll be heart-broken when it eventually wears out as one day it surely must.

Talking about it has got me thinking – would it really hurt to have another quick look at their travel clothes website once again? You never know, perhaps they’ll have a sale on and it would be a shame to miss out...

My favorite animal is a hamster. It’s small and cute. It’s also fast and quiet. It’s brown and white. It’s not scary but very friendly.

(Động vật yêu thích của tôi là chuột cảnh. Nó nhỏ và dễ thương. Nó cũng nhanh và yên tĩnh. Nó có màu nâu và trắng. Nó không đáng sợ mà rất thân thiện.)

Hey Jessica,

Hope this finds you well! I wanted to share with you my absolute favorite place in Vietnam – Hoi An. The charming ancient town with its lantern-lit streets, vibrant markets, and historic architecture stole my heart. The blend of rich culture, delectable street food, and the serene Thu Bon River make it a must-visit. The tailor shops, where you can get custom-made clothes, add an extra layer of uniqueness. Every visit feels like stepping into a time capsule. Can't wait for you to experience its magic someday!

Cheers,
Minh

Hey TU,

I just had to tell you about my favorite place in Vietnam - Hoi An. This charming little town is full of colorful lanterns, ancient architecture, and delicious food. The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is filled with narrow streets, historic buildings, and bustling markets. The lantern-lit evenings along the river are simply magical. Plus, the nearby beaches are perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. I can't get enough of the vibrant culture and laid-back atmosphere here. You've got to visit Hoi An if you ever get the chance!

Take care,

Hai

There was a time when photos were only taken by regular point-and-shoot-cameras, but now everything has changed. With the help of mobile phones and computers, people are taking billions of photos everyday from all parts of the world. I, myself, take so many pictures that I sometimes forget which photograph I took and when I took it. There is this one photograph I like the most. It’s just beautiful…

I love looking smart, but casual. I to dress according to my mood, in the winter months, I mostly wear darker clothes, but in the summer, I clothes that are a bit brighter. I never really wear skirts, I prefer trousers but I love dresses! I never wear heels as I can't walk in them, I love my flats, boots and trainers!

I wear a bit of makeup most days, it only takes me a minute to achieve my makeup look! I mostly wear my hair down, as I look horrible with my hair up! I am very different in terms of clothing to the rest of my friends, but that is what makes me individual. I love searching for vintage items, one-of-a-kind pieces. I am a sucker for a bargain, I love the christmas sales! I don't wear much jewellery, never wear rings, but I wearing bracelets and necklaces!

My favourite items in my wardrobe at the moment has to be my lovely black patterned dress with bows that was reduced to £18 and my cuddly cream knit cardigan.

You can quickly convey a number of things about your characters based on the clothing they wear. You can also confound or prove untrue impressions your characters (or readers) form based on appearances.

For example, think about a wealthy person and how that person might dress. You may have imagined a man in an expensive suit or a woman in designer clothes. You can immediately show a character is wealthy with descriptions of fine clothing. However, you can tell your reader interesting things through a mismatch:

A wealthy character might dress ostentatiously in expensive clothing. But they could also dress in modest, inexpensive-looking clothes.

What would you think about a wealthy character who looked as though he shopped at thrift stores? Or one who was forever wearing poorly-fitted clothing that appeared to be handed down from friends? These detail could suggest that your character is miserly or down-to-earth despite their wealth. Dr. Urbino in Marquez’s example above fits the latter category.

Think of other interesting combinations: A teacher who dresses provocatively; a beggar with an incredible, fashionable style of dress: What backstory or character motivations could these combinations of position and appearance suggest?

Chúc bạn hok tốt nha!
