At Tet, spring fairs are organized, streets and public buildings are brightly decorated and almost all shops are crowded with people shopping for Tet. At home, every is tidied, special food is cooked,offerings of food, fresh water, flowers and betel are made on the family altar with burning joss- sticks scenting the air.

Tet, one of the most important festivals in Vietnam , usually occurs around the end of January and the beginning of february or on the fist days based on the lunar calendar . Tet holiday is a wonderful occasion for Vietnamese families to celebrate in which people will dress new fancy clothes,reunite together, and serve some special traditional food . Vietnamese people usually dress new clothes during Tet holiday. The clothing in this occasion is spacial and colorful. Adults wear "Ao dai " while chidren wear new and fashionable clothes which their parents usually buy for them before Tet. Moreover , the warm atmosphere of the reunion that it brings to families is also an imporant thing to know about Tet. They give the greeting wishes to each other .
