I feel very excited because our Tet holiday is coming. This year I will learn how to make banh chung from my parents. It must be very interesting. I will also receive a special gift from my parents since I have got a lot of good marks in my final examination. I can't wait. This New Year's Eve I won't go out because it will be very cold.
You know, at Tet, people should give children lucky money in red envelopes. In addition, people shouldn't break things because it may bring bad luck, especially on the first day of the New Year.

Besides, most of the streets also are decorated beautifully with colorful lights and flowers. During Tet, I spends more time on visiting my relatives, friends and colleagues. Especially, I give to each other the best wishes for the new year. Tet is an opportunity for children receive lucky money. There is a funny thing that people try to avoid argument or saying any bad things at Tet. I love Tet holiday!

Lunar New Year Festival often falls between late January and early February; it is among the most important holidays in Vietnam. Officially, the festival includes the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day in Lunar Calendar; however, Vietnamese people often spend about nearly a month to celebrate this special event.

Tet Holiday gets its beginning marked with the first day in the Lunar Year; however, its preparation starts long before that. One week before the holiday, in the 23rd day of the last Lunar month, is East Day—a ritual worshiping Kitchen Gods (Tao Cong). It is believed that each year on this day, these Gods go to heaven to tell Jade Emperor about all activities of households on earth. On the New Year’s Eve, they return to earth to continue their duties as taking care of families.

On the New Year’s Day, the first ones who come to visit households—called first-foot—are very important and hence need to be well chosen, as they are believed to hold in their hands the entire luck of the family in New Year (Tan Nien). After that, till the third day or even the fourth day of Tet, individuals meet relatives, friends and colleagues, wishing them all kinds of good things happiness, health and success.

In my country, spring is the best season of the year because it has Tet holiday. In Tet holiday, the streets are very beautiful with green trees , flowers, and funny noisy. Vietnam is famous for its several holiday and festival, especially Tet holiday. It takes place from the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar until at least the third day. Although occurring in short period of time, it is believed to be the most important and popular holiday in Vietnam. There are many special food are made so as to prepare for Tet meal such as: sky square cake, Vietnamese sausage, sky rice and jam. The food is thought to reflect Vietnam’s habit and custom as well as Vietnamese’s lifestyle. Besides, the meal has other dishes fish, vegetable to show the hope for a successful and prosperous new year. In term of customs, children’s receiving red envelop from the elder, visiting relative’s houses and going to church are popular activities. Giving lucky money is thought to bring children hope and health. Church is the symbol of peace; therefore, individual go there and pray for successive year. Traditionally, the house is designed with peach flower in the North and Ochna integerrima in the south part of Vietnam. Besides, the house as well as town are clear, decorative and beautiful as all are ready to start a new year. People have cozy atmosphere and enjoy joyful time with their family’s members. It’s high time for people living at different parts of country gathering and spending time together. Tet is a chance for one to come back home after many stress and pressure of studying and working environment. Tet is not simply a holiday, it is culture and habit of Vietnamese since its deep meaning is sacred and important. All in all, Tet includes not only joy but also long-standing event in people’s soul as it helps one grow up through experience.

This summer I will definitely travel to Nha Trang. This is the tourist destination that most people would think of in such a hot summer. Furthermore, this is also my mother’s hometown.There are only 2 months left until the summer vacation, however, I was led by my parents to go shopping to prepare for a long vacation. Since my parents are busy working, I will go to Nha Trang alone. However, I am not sad because I have a lot of great plans for this summer.I will meet my old friends when I was in elementary school, I will be pampered by my grandparents and I will be immersed in the most beautiful beaches of Vietnam. Just thinking about it makes me feel wonderful this summer.
