In a striking experiment, Carter dealt with the theme of Little Red Riding Hood in a group of mutually echoing short stories, one radio script, and one homonymous screenplay (for Neil Jordan’s 1984 The Company of Wolves). By thus retelling one single subject matter in various, mutually reverberating ways, Carter mimicked a live tradition.
