.once a year ,it was usually on sunday in march, they could visit their mothers .they went home and brought presents for their mothers and for other members of their families. people call that day mothering day or mothering sunday. mothering day later became mother's day. it is the last sunday in march.

in 1914,president woodrow wilson ang=d congress agreed that the second sunday in may should be observed as mother's day in america. on that day , children give their mothers flowers ,president and cards to show their love to their mother . americans spends millions of dollars to buy mother's day gifts,clothes,perfume,jewelry and book or ticket to the theater are given to mothers . people who can not be with their mothers on that day usually send them presents and call them on the phone

In the English- speaking countries, it is the traditional day on which lovers show their love to each other by sending Valentine's cards, giving flowers, or going out for dinner together. One of the most common presents on thisday is chocolate. The holiday is named after a Chiristian priest- Valentine. The most common symbol os St. Valentine's Day is Cupld- the Rorman saint of love. Cupld is a young boy with bow and arrows. The first St. Valentine's Day was celebrated in England, and then around the world including many countries in Europe, Asla, and South America.

However in some countries such as india, Valentine's Day is not allowed. In India, many lovers are even not allowed to go out together or show their love to each othet in puviic places.

n the United States, people celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May. On this occasion, mother usually receives greeting cards and gifts from her husband and children. The best gift of all for an American Mom is a day of leisure. The majority of American mothers have outside jobs as well as housework, so their working days are often very hard. The working mother enjoys the traditional Mother’s Day custom of breakfast (or brunch) cooked by her family and served to her on a tray in bed. Later in the day, it is also traditional for the extended family group to get together for dinner, either in a restaurant or in one of their homes.

The second Sunday in May is Mother’s Day. It is a public holiday in both Britain and America. On that day, children send Mother’s Day cards to their mothers. They give their mothers flowers or sweets as presents. Fathers and children do the cooking so that mothers can have a rest.
In the USA, Mother’s Day started in 1860s.. There was a small town called Pruntytown in the middle of the USA. People in the town fought against each other during a war. After the war, they hated each other. Mrs Ann Reeves Janis wanted the people to make friends with each other again. So she started “Mother’s Friendship Day”. On that day, she visited all the other mothers in the town and said, “Let us be friends with each other again”.
Her idea succeeded. The same thing happened in other parts of the country. After she died, her daughter carried on her idea. In 1908, “Mother’s Friendship Day” became “Mother’s Day”.
