Vietnamese engagement ceremony is an important ceremony before the wedding which involve both fiancé’s and fiancée’s families. In the past, engagement ceremony was considered very important even than the wedding ceremony because it was an official day to announce the wedding, the relationship between two families. Nowadays, it is less important and varied for each region. In the big city the engagement ceremony could be celebrated 1 day before (and 1 month in the countryside) the wedding ceremony.

Before the engagement day, each family chooses a representative. This person is a member of the family which has a happy life and a high ranking position in the family. Both of representatives do representation, exchange gifts and controlling the flow of the ceremony. Besides choosing the representatives, both families sit together to negotiate the dowry and the good time for the ceremony. The time is chosen very carefully based on the propitious time and day of lunar calendar.

The gifts are prepared by the fiancé family several days before the engagement ceremony. Traditionally the gifts was placed a number of trays. The number must be an odd number 5, 7 or 9… trays depends on the condition of the fiancé family. The gifts are covered by the red color paper or cloth. In Vietnamese beliefs, the odd number and the red color will bring luck to the young couple. The gifts include betel leaves, areca nut fruits (trầu, cau), wine, tea, husband-wife cake (bánh phu thê) and sticky rice… one of the most important gift is the whole roasted pig which placed in a large tray. Both families also choose 5, 7 or 9 people who bring and receive the gifts. These people must be young and not marriage. Boys represent for fiancé bearing the gifts and girls represent for fiancée receiving the gifts.

On the engagement day, the fiancé family brings the gifts to the fiancée family with the warmly welcome. After receiving the gifts, the young couple prays in front of the fiancée’s family altar to ask for approval of fiancée ancestors. When this ritual finishes, the fiancé give the fiancée the engaged ring.

Following the engaged ring giving, the both representatives introduced the member of both families in an order. Then both family enjoy the party which prepared by the fiancée family. It is also expected that some of gifts are returned to the fiancé family for luck before the fiancé family leaves.

The days after the engagement ceremony to the wedding ceremony, the parents of fiancée family bring the wedding cards with gifts to their friends, family members… and neighbors to invite them to the wedding party of their young couple.

Vietnamese New Year

The Vietnamese New Year is also called the Tet. It is the most important traditional festival during Lunar New Year (usually around late January to early February), and people would celebrate it with different kinds of customs, such as ancestor worship, making special New Year food and writing couplet as well as other traditional activities. And people would go to visit friends or relatives' houses on the first day of Tet.

Making Banh Chung
Banh Chung is one of the special traditional foods that people would make during the Vietnamese New Year. It is usually made of sticky rice, along with pork meat and green bean, all wrapped in the shape of perfect square with a leaf of a certain local plant called Dong. And then Vietnamese would place the Banh Chung and other foods on the ancestors' altars (ancestor worship) till cook them on one or two days before the New Year.

Setting up New Year trees
At the end of the preparation for the Tet, a piece of bare bamboo (4-5 meters long) will be set up, with a little bunch of leaves on the tip, and a basket holding some fish and bells made of baked clay, acting as the marks that lead the ancestors' spirits their way home to reunion with the living.

Couplet
It's an indispensable tradition that every family would put up a couplet on the two sides of the main entrance door. The sentences are usually written in two parts. Words of one part must have the opposite meaning to the other part and obey some specific matching rules, which create an easy-pronounced effect. And you can find these traditional couplets written on red paper and being sold on both sides of the street, forming a happy atmosphere.

Water puppetry

If there's one way that combines culture learning and entertainment, the intriguing water puppetry would be an excellent choice. Dating back to the 11th century, this unique variation of ancient Asian puppet art features the skillful manipulation of the puppets, with the puppeteers controlling different varieties of puppet characters through large bamboo rods behind a screen, and not letting the audience see the puppeteers. The show is played on a waist-deep pool, so it would look like the puppets are moving on the water themselves.

The stories of the puppet show are usually about people's daily lives, legends, and some historical heroes. And the background music is played live with story-telling singing, drums, pipes and other traditional instruments. It's a great cultural learning time to share with families.

Where can you watch this show?
Located near the serene Hoan Kiem Lake, the Hanoi Water Puppet Theater is the place where you can admire this unique traditional Vietnamese art performance. The show will be put on every day at 15:30 – 17:00 – 18:30 – 20:00 – 21:15, and Sunday at 9:30

I consider the earth quake in 2011 was the most horrible and frightful in my life. A magnitude 5.5 earthquake centered off southern Vietnam in November 2001, killed one person after a plank loosened by the shaking fell on his head. Many houses were damaged, and several people were injured as they tried to escape from their homes, including some who jumped from balconies.Luckily, none of deaths. Some schools and office buildings damaged by the quake were closed for inspection. Dien Bien Phu was the site of a key victory by Vietnamese forces against French colonialist forces in 1954. After the quake, many residents of the town stayed on the streets all night and did not dare to go back into their houses until morning,People in the whole town could not sleep for fear of another quake. Earthquakes occur infrequently in VietnamThe quake was the worst to hit Vietnam in a decade. Damage from Vietnam earthquake estimated at $13 million.

- Quy Nhon is a small city in the Central Coast Vietnam. It belongs to Binh Dinh province that is known as martial arts land of Vietnam. This is not a tourism destination so it's peaceful, quiet, friendly people, cheap price. Like another Coast cities, it has very fresh sea food. Now, some places are developing to attract tourists but if you want to find somewhere not crowded, this is.
You can go to the top of Vung Chua mountain by motorbike (from Ghenh Rang, near the Queen beach). It takes about 15 minutes. This is the best place to see all of the beautiful city, graceful sea with natural beauty of Thi Nai lagoon, Phuong Mai peninsula and Thi Nai bridge - the longest cross-sea bridge of Vietnam.

Near the end of the first term, the school organized a tour for us at Nui Coc Lake. Nui Coc Lake opened before my eyes was the deep green of the forest and the clear blue of the lake. The atmosphere is very peaceful, quiet, different from the atmosphere where we live. After breakfast, the teacher took us to visit the caves, these are not natural caves, but it is created by meticulous human hands, these are fine works. beautiful micro. Out of the cave, we climbed up the high hills, where there were many pine and casuarina. Standing on a high hill, we can clearly hear the sound of the pine vi vu as a lullaby. The view from above is so beautiful, the golden sunlight shines on the surface of the lake, making thousands of small waves running across the water look like the stars are bouncing and playing. After playing bored on the lake shore, we went for a walk on the lake in a small boat. The lake surface is immense, the waves ripple and rush in the direction of the wind. In the distance there are villages lying quietly by the lake. The scene is so poetic. So after a day visiting Coc Mountain tourist area. What a rewarding trip.

Temple of Literature is a Temple of Confucius in Hanoi, northern Vietnam. The temple hosts the "Imperial Academy"Vietnam's first national university. The temple was built in 1070 at the time of Emperor Lý Thánh Tông. It was built in 1076 AD at the time of Emperor Lý Thánh Tông. It was built as a school for the rich and royals to study because education is very important. After that, it was used as university for everyone because there weren't enough universities for everyone in Hanoi. They wanted that a lot of people would go to the school so they expanded to make more space for more people and since it was expanded for more people wanted to go to the school to study well. It was rebuilt because the wood that the Emperor used in the olden days had been so old that it started to break and fall apart. As the days went by, the kings kept replacing the wood and now we have replaced the wood with concrete or metal, stone and new wood. When the French ruled Vietnam at around 1945- 1954, they destroyed some parts of the temple to make room for the sick and wounded since the hospitals were full.

In Vietnam there are two different weather patterns: the Northern one with 4 seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter) and the Southern one with 2 seasons (dry, rainy). Generally speaking the Northern weather pattern is similar to weather patterns in most North Hemisphere countries (summer from June to August etc.). In the south, the rainy season usally last from April to November and the dry season from November to April.

My first visit to Nha Trang, the coastal city, was three years ago. It was a pleasant and memorable trip.
Nha trang, the capital of Khanh Hoa province, has one of the most popular municipal beaches in all of Viet nam. In Nha Trang, nature beauties are so tempting. Waves crashing onto the cliffs, the soft sigh of the sea breeze, clean white sands and turquoise waters, it all makes for a stunning landscape. On my visit to Nha Trang, I used to get up early each morning to stroll along the beach - a chance to breath in the fresh sea air and enjoy the sunrise across the water. One attraction that captivated me three years ago and still it does is the collection of small offshore islands, that is Hon Tre where is the largest of the islands.
Nha Trang is the city in hamoney, its fine wather, favorite position and friendly people bring it a certain balance. Nha Trang is a great holiday destination. I hope to have chance to come back

This travel guide is for people who want to visit Ha Long Bay, one of the seven natural wonders in the world. Ha Long Bay is located in Quang Ninh province which is in the north of Vietnam. It is nearly 200km from Hanoi. So it takes you about 4 hours by car. You can also travel there in a coach or even in a helicopter on Saturday. The best season to visit Ha Long is in summer when the weather is warm and sunny. Ha Long Bay has many beautiful caves and islands; therefore, you must take a boat trip to enjoy the view here. You certainly must take pictures to remember the trip better, too. If you are an active person, you must do the water sports here like swimming, sailing, and windsurfing. One more thing, you must try the seafood here because it is incredibly fresh and delicious. With this travel guide, I hope that you will have a wonderful time here in the number one natural wonder of Vietnam
