IELTS 5.5:
Reading stories from a book is considered to be a thing of the past to some children. They tend to bury themselves in the most modern computer games and illustrative TV programs. However, I strongly believe that the power of reading books is as equitable as that of the latest media.
While book reading is compatible with introverted kids staying away from the crowd and basking themselves in sort of the whirlwind of meditative smoke, TV programs are easily digested by modern youngsters. Vivid images on the media, besides, provide extroverted kids more direct and impressive understandings of the world.
Social surveys have shown that the more children read books, the more patient and self-critical they become. Without being instantly affected the thoughts of others and images of phenomena, readers are supposed to dig deeper and come up with their own reflections. Yet, the diversity in sources of news and information on TV is much greater than that in pure books. Information-loving children are, therefore, staunch fans of modern communication modes.
However, to families of lower income, and especially, those in remote areas, books are the optimum ways to access information. The cost to equip each household with games and TV is a big concern to them even though it is irrefutable that these means effectively unwind themselves after strenuous hours of academic learning. Imagine that dragging themselves from school with piles of tedious homework, children are, in no time, refreshed, recharged and re-energized by lively images and sounds. Ingenuous games are also believed to exercise their brain as efficaciously as valuable books.
