Water puppetry is a Water puppetry art form of Vietnam. It dated back as far as the 11th century in the villages of the Red River Delta area of northern Vietnam. People make  puppets from wood and then they paint, decorate and  bolish them so that they will look more beautiful and attractive under the light of the stage. The puppet shows are performed in a pool. The puppeteers hide behind a screen to control the puppets so audience can only see the puppets moving on the water. The theme of the short plays is about  daily life of the people in the  rural areas and folklore tales. Nowadays, water puppet shows are available in Thang Long water puppet theater in Ha Noi. Every year, the theater offers hundreds of shows to tourists from many parts of the world to Viet nam. These water puppet shows help to introduce Vietnamese culture as well as the spirit of  Vietnamese people to foreigners.
