I. Combine the following sentences by using “to Infinitive / so as to / in order to” to express purpose.

1. He opened the lion‟s cage. He intended to feed the lion.

2. I took off my shoes. I didn‟t want to make any noise.

4. He learned English well. He wanted his mother to be happy.

3. I sent him out of the room in order not for him to hear my conversation with Mary.

4. He learned English well so as for his mother to be happy.

5. I try to study hard to pass the entrance exam.

7. She got up early so as not to miss the first bus.

8. He hurried not to be late for the interview.

9. Some learners write new words and stick them around their house so as to learn them at any time.
