1 WWF Vietnam helps Long An with domestic solid waste management
2 WWF Vietnam continues to help Long An to become a model of waste separation at source in Tan An City and other districts
3 It first launched a communication campaign to raise awareness among local people about separating waste at source two years ago
4 The project provides enough dustbins and two containers for the separate collection of sorted waste in each household
5 After the waste is sorted, it is collected separately by workers
6 The sorted organic waste is transported to a factory treatment facility where it is converted into high-quality compost fertilizer
46 The UNICEF Tap Project started in 2007 in New York City restaurants, where each diner donated $1 to support UNICEF water and hygiene programmes
47 Since then, the Tap Project has expanded and many restaurants throughout the USA and many countries have participated in the project
48 Water is a daily privilege that most of us take for granted, but some children die every day due to a lack of clean water
49 Many governments, organizations and celebrities support the project and also help send UNICEF’s message about the world water crisis through social networking sites
50 Nowadays, children in many countries enjoy clean water for free
46 The Dong Nai River is one of the main water sources for local factories in the focal Southern Economic Zone and is expected to meet the increasing demand of 200 million m³ per year in the next decade
47 But increasing pollution and saline intrusion are big concerns for sustainable development there
48 The WWF Project focuses on dealing with water pollution in the Tri An Reservoir and the lower Dong Nai River
49 The inter-conservation project focuses not only on species conservation but also on environmental problems and local people’s livelihood
50 WWF gives local people technical support, and the authorities make an active contribution in close cooperation with the local community
