Meals in Viet Nam – lunch or dinner – must include rice. Traditionally, Vietnamese meals are prepared by wives or mothers and the whole family is expected to eat. However, families now may have only one meal a day at home, and may not include all the family members.
Tastes, cooking methods and dishes are different between the three regions: the North, the Central, and the South. Nowadays, these differences have become small.
When families do not have time to prepare meals, they eat out. Employees have lunch somewhere nearby the work places.
Young people in Viet Nam now like fast food because of its conveniences. Vietnamese fast food shops have been opened, and the most successful Vietnamese fast food chain is Pho 24. In recent years, there have been more Vietnamese fast food chains such as Bun Bo Hue 3A3.
