IX. Read the text carefully then decide whether the following statements are true (T) or false (F).
Many students listen to music while they are studying, and say that it helps them learn. Many parents and teachers say that music is just distracting, and that students are better studying in silence. Who is right? In a study, some scientists asked three groups of students to listen to a piece of music by Mozart or a relaxation tape for ten minutes, or just sit in silence for ten minutes. The students then did a ‘spatial reasoning’ test (a test about remembering shapes and imagining looking at objects from different directions), and the ones who had listened to the Mozart did better in the test. Taking part in musical activities and learning to play an instrument can improve verbal memory (the ability to remember words). The longer the training lasts, the better the improvement in the memory. So, there’s no excuse to give up the piano lessons!
53. Many students think it’s helpful to listen to music when studying.
54. Teachers say music helps students to better concentrate.
55. The students who had listened to Mozart did better in the spatial reasoning test.
56. Music training helps to improve memory

UK summer music festival
Held on a farm, the Glastonbury Festival is the most well-known and popular festival in the UK. It began in 1970 and was attended by one thousand five hundred people each paying an admission price of £1 – the ticket included free milk from the farm. Since then the Glastonbury Festival has gone from strength to strength – in 2004 one hundred and fifty thousand fans attended, paying £112 for tickets to the three-day event. Glastonbury is not unique in using live music to raise money for global poverty. In July of this year, the Live 8 concerts will be held simultaneously in London, Paris, Rome and Berlin. Superstars, such as Madonna, Sir Elton John and Stevie Wonder will perform in order to highlight international poverty and debt.

Hi, everybody! My name is Lam. I am in grade 6. I live with my parents and my elder sister in the city center. My house is on Cau Giay Street. It's a little small but there is a big garden behind it. We grow a lot of vegetables and flowers there. There is also a yard in front of my house. That's the place where my sister and I often play badminton after school.
Near my house, there is a park where my sister and I often go for a walk on weekends. Next to the park, there is a big lake. To the left of my house, there is a bookstore. My sister goes there every day because she loves reading. There is also a restaurant opposite my house. It's between the bakery and the drugstore. To the right of the bakery, there is a movie theater and there is a toy store behind it. There are many big trees on our street. In the neighborhood, there is a factory, a stadium and a hospital. The stadium is to the left of the factory and the hospital is behind the stadium. I like living here so much.
