1. Present simple

- Expressing a habit or repetitive action in the present

- Truth, the obvious truth ...

- Things happen in the future. This is often used to talk about a timetable, schedule, or schedule that has been fixed in a timetable.

- Used in conditional type 1

- Used in some other structure.

2. Past simple

- Express an action that occurs one, several times or never in the past

- Expressing past successive actions

- Interpreting an action interfering with an action that has taken place in the past

- Used in type II conditional sentences

3. Present continuous

- Express an action that is occurring at the time of speaking

- Describe an action or incident generally occurring but not necessarily happening at the moment.

- Expressing an impending action in the near future. Often represents a scheduled plan

- Frequent repetitive actions cause frustration or discomfort to the speaker. This usage is used with the adverb "always, continually"

4. Present perfect

- Action completed to date without mentioning when it occurred.

- Action started in the past and is continuing in the present:

- Action has been done before and now still do

- An experience to date (often used ever).

- about an action in the past but important at the time of speaking

5. Simple future

- To express a decision at the time of speaking

- Make a request, offer, (Will you ......?)

- Speech is unreasonable.

1. Thì hiện tại đơn :

Trạng từ chỉ tần suất

Trạng từ chỉ thời gian

2. Thì quá khứ đơn:

Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian trong quá khứ:

– yesterday (hôm qua)

– last night/ last week/ last month/ last year: tối qua/ tuần trước/ tháng trước/ năm ngoái

– ago: Cách đây. (two hours ago: cách đây 2 giờ/ two weeks ago: cách đây 2 ngày …)

– when: khi (trong câu kể)

3. Thì tương lai đơn:

Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian trong tương lai:

– in + thời gian: trong … nữa (in 2 minutes: trong 2 phút nữa)

– tomorrow: ngày mai

– Next day: ngày hôm tới

– Next week/ next month/ next year: Tuần tới/ tháng tới/ năm tới

Trong câu có những động từ chỉ quan điểm như:

– think/ believe/ suppose/ …: nghĩ/ tin/ cho là

– perhaps: có lẽ

– probably: có lẽ

4. Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn:

– Now: bây giờ – Right now: Ngay bây giờ – At the moment: lúc này – At present: hiện tại – At + giờ cụ thể (at 12 o’lock)

– Look! (Nhìn kìa!) – Listen! (Hãy nghe này!) – Keep silent! (Hãy im lặng)

Ví dụ: – Now my sister is going shopping with my mother. (Bây giờ em gái tôi đang đi mua sắm với mẹ của tôi.)

– Look! The train is coming. (Nhìn kia! tàu đang đến.)
