Part-time jobs are getting more popular in a modern society, especially among students. However, whether students should have part-time jobs or not is still on debate. Some hold the view that students should spend most of their time for their study. Others argue that students can benefit a great deal from working part-time. Personally, I stand for the view that it is definitely beneficial for teenagers to have a part time job even when they are still students for three reasons.
Firstly, when working part time, teenagers can exactly evaluate the allowance they get from their parents every month.. In fact, most teenagers work part-time simply because they need to earn some money to spend on their books or show others that they are somehow independent. Nonetheless, it comes to the bright side that they may learn how difficult it is to get money as well as how hard their parents must work every day so as to support them. As a result, part time - working students will understand the true value of money – in terms of labor - properly enough to stop spending money wastefully. In other words, they will not only take a better care of their budget but also love their parents more.
Secondly, working part-time offers students good opportunities to put into practice what they have learned in school. As a matter of fact, students often gain only basic and theoretical knowledge from their formal training. Hence, it is no doubt that students ought to work in order to get practical experience, which is officially required by most employers. A statistic reports that those students who had part time jobs during their school time often feel more confident and positive in dealing with suddenly - arising problems than the others.
Last but not least, once having a part time job, teenagers will learn how to be more independent. It is true that students often encounter quite a few hard problems in their part time jobs, yet in many situations those obstacles enhance them to either make their own decisions or try to solve the problems by themselves. In addition, students who work part time often know how to get along better with other people and how to communicate effectively, irrespective of the fact that they sometimes have to do it by themselves. No matter whether they succeed or fail in their decisions, they have learned how to cope with their hard time independently.
In nutshell, it is evident that students who do part time jobs during their school time always get an array of benefits, namely the ability to evaluate the others’ work, the practical experience to deal with other people, and the capability of working independently.
