Trước cổng nhà, ba em trồng hai cây cau cảnh rất đẹp. Là cây cảnh nên nó không cao lắm, chỉ tầm 3 mét. Cau mọc thẳng tắp, thân cau tròn, gốc cây to và nhỏ dần lên đến ngọn. Da cau khá mịn màng, màu trắng bạc, có các khoanh tròn nhỏ trên thân như diện những chiếc lắc tay xinh đẹp. Các tàu lá cau xanh rì, tựa lá dừa nhưng ngắn và bé hơn, phất phơ trước gió như đang thì thầm trò chuyện. Cau nở thành từng buồng, ra hoa, hoa có màu trăng trắng, hương hoa dịu nhẹ, thoảng bay trong gió chiều khiến lòng ta ngào ngạt. Quả cau tròn, nho nhỏ, ra thành từng buồng, mỗi buồng có khi vài trăm trái, da láng mịn và xanh bóng. Khi về già, quả chín và đổi màu vàng đậm. Bà em thường chọn những quả cau tròn và căng nhất để bổ dọn cùng với trầu trên ban thờ mỗi dịp có giỗ hay ngày lễ Tết như tấm lòng thành kính gửi đến ông bà.

Có một loài cây rất đặc biệt, không có cành, chỉ có lá, hoa thì to và nhọn hoắt như một mũi tên lửa, tàu lá to hơn cả người. Đó chính là cây chuối, một loại cây mà em rất thích. Cây chuối là một cây ăn quả, tuy không được quan tâm và để ý nhiều như những loại cây ăn quả khác nhưng lại rất ấn tượng với em. Thân cây chuối to và thẳng như cột nhà, vỏ cây chuối nhẵn bóng, bên trong là từng thớ vỏ chứa rất nhiều nước. Từ thân chuối mọc ra những tàu lá to giống như những chiếc quạt khổng lồ, to hơn cả người em. Bông hoa chuối là bông hoa đặc biệt nhất mà em từng biết, nó có màu đỏ sẫm, vươn lên từ phần ngọn của cây giống như tên lửa chuẩn bị phóng lên trời. Từng bẹ hoa chuối nở ra và rụng xuống để lại những nải chuối màu xanh xinh xắn nhỏ bé đang e ấp. Một bông hoa chuối có thể cho từ 10-20 nải chuối, mà mỗi nải lại có đến mười mấy quả. Ăn chuối rất thơm và ngon lại tốt cho tiêu hoá và sức khoẻ, vì thế em rất thích ăn chuối và cũng thích những cây chuối trong vườn nhà.
