a. Cặp câu thơ lục bát:

- Dòng đầu : 6 tiếng

- Dòng sau : 8 tiếng

b. Cặp lục bát được sắp xếp theo mô hình dưới:

c. Nhận xét: nếu tiếng thứ 6 là thanh trắc thì tiếng thứ 8 phải là thanh bằng, và ngược lại

d. Luật thơ lục bát:

Số câu: tối thiểu là câu lục bát, không giới hạn về số câu

- Các tiếng chẵn : 2,4,6,8 bắt buộc phải đúng luật :

+ Câu lục : B – T – B

+ Câu bát : B – T – B – B

- Các tiếng lẻ : 1,3,5,7 không bắt buộc phải đúng luật.

- Vần :

+ Tiếng thứ 6 câu lục vần với tiếng thứ 6 câu bát.

+ Tiếng thứ 8 câu bát mở ra một vần mới, vần này vần với tiếng thứ 6 của câu lục và tiếng thứ 6 câu bát tiếp theo. Các vần này thường là thanh bằng.

- Nhịp :

+ Câu lục : nhịp 2/2/2 ; 2/4 ; 3/3

+ Câu bát : 2/2/2 ; 4/4 ; 3/5 ; 2/6.
