=  2189 + ( 324 + 276 )  

= 2189 + 600

= 2789

b) 135 + 360 + 265 + 140

= ( 135 + 265 ) + ( 360 + 140 ) 

= 400 + 500

a) x + 2021 = 4000 

             x     = 4000 - 2021

             x     = 1979

b) 362 + x = 3362

              x = 3362 - 362

              x = 3000

c) 376 - x = 126 

             x = 376 - 126

             x = 250

d) x - 653 = 376 

           x   = 653 + 376

           x   = 1029
