My best friend is Lan. We have known each other since we were 10 years old. If I were to describe how she looks I would say she is very pretty. She has long black hair a straight nose and a small pointed chin. She is quite slim. She doesn t like to dress up so I usually see her wearing jeans and a T - shirt. She has a very nice personality and a wonderful sense of humour but she can also get a little depressed from time to time.

I lived in Boulder, Colorado for most of my adult life. It's a broad mix of socio-economic statuses but overall it's a very liberal town that's often compared to the likes of Austin, Santa Cruz, San Fran, or Portland. My house was in the south eastern end of town and was three houses down from an elementary school. It was set a few blocks in from the highway so while access was convenient there was no road noise, and I was about a block away from the nearest two lane (each way) road. CU Campus was about a 14 block walk west and if you could get a line of sight from the trees the Flatirons were clearly visible in the same direction. Neighbors ranged from college students, to middle aged professionals to even a few retirees.

In a subdivision with cookiecutter houses. Some desert separates my neighborhood from the city proper which I like.

Very quiet with the only sounds breaking the silence are birds and the occasional car passing through. Not many people are outside except in the morning when kids walk to the school and joggers/walkers take advantage of the cool temperatures.

This place is dead during the hottest hours. Most people are either at work or in school. No one stays outside except those who have swimming pools in their backyard. But, it comes back to life when the kids come home from school. During sunset and evening twilight, kids are outside playing. Burglaries might be a problem if it wasn't for a cop station nearby. The crime rate is very low this side of town.

Night time is dark because there are no streetlights except at the main roads. No one stays outside at night because lots of creatures come out: scorpions, coyotes, rattlesnakes, even some wild boars. If I leave for work early enough at dawn, I can see some coyotes skulking away to their dens. There are strict rules about leaving trash at night which scavenging animals can get to.

Needless to say, the neighborhood is very clean, very well-maintained. Each homeowner is responsible for keeping their property clean plus the sidewalk, curb, and street that borders their property.

Hoa is a shy girl.She doesn't talk too much when she meets new friends.
