Mưa đang trút xuống trên mái nhà. Tôi cố gắng đọc sách nhưng tiếng mưa quá lớn. Tôi không thể ngăn bản thân khỏi tâm trạng hơi bực dọc. Tôi muốn ra ngoài chơi nhưng trời mưa đang giữ chân tôi lại trong nhà.

Mẹ tôi đã đi tới cửa hàng tạp hóa, và bố tôi thì dành cả ngày thứ 7 ở công sở. Tôi đã định dành cả ngày để đi tản bộ, nhưng mẹ thiên nhiên quyết định rằng ngày hôm nay thật hoàn hảo để cho mưa xuống.

Điều đó có nghĩa là tôi sẽ phải tự giải trí một mình. Tôi dành gần như cả buổi sáng để chơi với thú nhồi bông và đọc sách. Tôi ngồi cạnh cửa sổ và nảy ra một ý tưởng lạ lùng: Tại sao không cứ thế mà ra ngoài nhỉ?.

Tôi đi ủng và mặc một chiếc áo mưa cỡ lớn và bước ra thế giới ẩm ướt bên ngoài. Trời mưa nặng hạt nhưng không hề lạnh. Tất cả những gì tôi có thể nghe được là tiếng mưa rơi và tiếng gió rít. Tôi quyết định cứ đi tiếp dù thế nào đi chăng nữa.

Chân tôi không hề tạo ra một tiếng động nào trên mặt đất ướt nhẹp và khu rừng trông có vẻ khác mọi ngày. Tôi đi tới nơi yêu thích và ngồi xuống. Vào mùa hè, tôi thường cùng Ellen- cô bạn thân tới đây và ngồi hằng giờ. Bất chợt, tôi nghĩ là tôi đã nghe thấy tiếng ai đó gọi tên mình. Tôi quay đầu lại và thấy Ellen đang đi về phía mình.

“Trời ạ, đúng là cậu rồi Martha” Cô ấy nói. “Tới không thể tin nổi cậu ở đây ngay lúc này”. Tôi đã nghĩ rằng tôi là người duy nhất đủ điên rồi để đi bộ khi trời mưa.

Tôi rất hạnh phúc khi có thêm người bạn đồng hành. Chúng tôi đã kết luận rằng tản bộ dưới mưa cũng thú vị như khi tản bộ trong tiết trời nắng đẹp
