The Temple of Literature was constructed in 1070 under the reign of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong. Nowadays it is considered one of the historic and cultural sites of Vietnam. In 1076, Emperor Ly Nhan Tong built The Imperial Academy as the first university of Vietnam. In 1484, King Le Thanh Tong ordered the erection of the first Doctors' stone tablets to honor talents and encourage study. And then they were recognised as the World heritage by UNESCO in 2010. In 2003, the Hanoi People's Committee built four statues of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, Emperor Ly Nhan Tong, King Le Thanh Tong, and Chu Van An, who founded and developed The Temple of Literature – The Imperial Academy.

One will not disappoint visiting this place. The temple hosts the "Imperial Academy", Vietnam's first national university. The temple was built back in 1070 at the time of King Ly Thanh Tong. One can freely walk around various part of the temple and the admission fee is only 30,000 dong which is about a pound. While we were there place was very busy with young qualified graduates who came there for photo shoot. Best time to go there is in the morning before the place get busy. There are few souvenir shops in there selling interesting things. At least allow couple of hours to look around.

2Your favarite tv of music programes

Thanks so much for the website! I live in Vietnam, so Exploring Music comes on at 9:00 AM my time and I’m usually at work. It’s always a treat when I can catch it (listening to Tucson’s 90.5 via internet streaming–my old hometown radio) and I’m thrilled to see that episodes are available at a price even I can afford.

My favorite show recently (of the ones I’ve caught) was “Beethoven and that Danged Metronome.” I’m not musically trained and didn’t grow up in an environment where classical music was present, and I never really understand the subtleties of different interpretations of the same work. I’m currently becoming more interested in 20th c. composers, but it was splendid to go back to Beethoven and hear variations on familiar music.

Thanks for keeping a girl company so far from home!

4 your favarite food or drink

My favourite food is fried rice with vegetable and chicken curry with salad. This is in fact the most popular menu in our country. The rice is first boiled in water and then the boiled rice is fried with some chicken and vegetables and oil. The chicken curry is prepared separately using some spices and chicken and finally the salad is prepared using different vegetables and fruits and then those are cup into pieces and mixed together with mustard. Then these three items are served together.
I eat this menu approximately 3-4 times in a week. This menu is prepared at home mostly and sometimes I eat it in a restaurant. There are some variations in the way this food is prepared and the ingredients using which this food is made. Different restaurants have their own specialty in preparing and serving this menu.
This is my favourite food for many reasons: firstly it is very delicious and healthy. This menu meets the demand for different food values our body needs. It is available in most of the part in our country. Thirdly, I like it as it offers the variations of tastes. Moreover, it is not that much expensive to prepare and does not require o much effort to prepare. For all these reasons it is my favourite food.

The Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is the most magnificent building in India. It is called ‘one of the seven wonders of the world.” It was built by the Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan in the sweet memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Twenty thousand workmen including some European masons worked day and night for twenty years to build it. It cost the Emperor several crores of rupees.

I had a keen desire to visit this famous building of the world. At last the day came when my long-cherished desire turned into reality. Last year I had an occasion to attend the marriage of a friend of mine. This gave me a chance to see this master-piece of artistic design. As I came close to it, I was struck by its unique structure. It is a marvel in marble. We went to the underground room where Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal lie buried. Our minds went back to the times of Shah Jahan when he built this building at a high cost.

The Taj is surrounded by a cypress garden on three sides. It is situated on the bank of the river Jamuna which lends charm to its beauty. The surroundings and the garden and lustre to its architecture. The beauty of the Taj beggars description.

In the moonlit night, its glory and splender become unique. It is an intoxication and a delight to watch this marvelous feat of workmanship in a full moonlight night. I have seen several buildings but none presents such a glorious view. It is matchless in beauty.

Some historians have named it “the crown of the world.” Someone has rightly called it a ‘poem in marble.’ In short, it is a paradise on earth. It is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The crimson rays of the sun at the time of sunset, enhance its beauty and glory.

My joy knew no bounds on seeing this wonderful building. Its memory will always remain fresh in my mind. My knowledge about the Taj is now first hand. It is quite different form the second hand information which I had got from my books.

I also visited some other historical buildings in Agra Fort. It is a huge buildings that reminds the visitors of the lofty grandeur and the glory of the great Moghul Kings. I then went to Fatehpur Sikri where I saw the famous Buland Darwaza, the Panch Mahal and many other buildings. All these magnificent structures made a deep impression on me but there is nothing to match the beauty of the Taj.

I was reminded of the English lady who, on seeing the Taj, had said to her husband,” If you promise to build a monument like the Taj in my memory, I am ready to die right now.”

Quảng Ngãi is a city in the Central Coast region of Vietnam. Known for the My Lai incident during the Vietnam War. A sleepy town that is up and coming but well off the beaten tracks. This place doesn't receive many visitors who often bypass the town for Da Nang north or Nha Trang to the south. Recent government investments in oil refineries has earned Quảng Ngãi recognition. The town's numerous cultural and historical sights are getting more attention.

Quảng Ngãi is a town that used to be neglected, forgotten, and bypassed by government, tourists, even the residents wanted to get out of this uneventful town. Now with all the oil money coming in, Quẚng Ngãi has been recapitalized, revitalized, and reborn. Now, everybody seems to be rushing back into town. New cafes, resorts, and upscale restaurants are popping up all over town. Business folks from Hanoi and HCMC are coming to this town to snatch up properties, open cafes, bars and dinning places. They know that sooner or later the oil money will make Quảng Ngãi as the place to be. The bandwagon phenomena is bringing to Quảng Ngãi a new energy, a new spirit that is turning this once boring place into a lively town.

Quảng Ngãi is surrounded by the Truong Son Mountains on one side and the East Sea on the other. The topography of the surrounding regions include mountains, plains, seaside and offshore islands.
