Five years ago, I attended a very big festival in Ha Noi. It's called 1000th Anniversary of Thang Long - Ha Noi Festival. There are a lot of activities in this festival such as fireworks display, military parade, music performances, ect. It was organized very splendidly because the organizers are the Viet Nam government. Millions of people came to Ha Noi to participate in this great festival. It was held for ten days from October 1st 2015 to October 10th 2015. I saw lots of fireworks, parties, parades during these days. It was interesting. I took so many pictures on this festival because there were plenty of beautiful scenes. We organized this great festival to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Ha Noi.

Tet Festival

Tet is a national and family festival. It is an occasion for every Vietnamese to have a good time while thinking about the last year and the next year. At Tet, spring fairs are organized, streets and public buildings are brightly decorated and almost all shops are crowded with people shopping for Tet. At home, every is tidied, special food is cooked,offerings of food, fresh water, flowers and betel are made on the family altar with burning joss- sticks scenting the air. First-footing is made when the lucky visitor comes and children are given lucky money wrapped in a red tiny envelope. Tet is also a time for peace and love. During Tet, children often behave well and friends, relatives and neighbors give each other best wishes for the new year.

The festival I attended is Mid-Autumn festival or Moon festival. It is one of the popular celebrations in Viet Nam. It's held on the 15th in the eighth month in Lunar Calendar ( often in late September or early October). It's organnized by Ho Chi Minh Pioneer Association. The festival took place in Nguyen Tat Thanh Square. The most typical reason for the Moon festival is to facilitate children a good chance to play and express their love to their relatives. The festival stars with musical performances. After that, the children parade with different types of lanterns. The surrounding is viewer, that is foreigners, local people, etc. I took so many photos on this festival because there were plenty of beautiful scenes.

Well, to start off, I would to describe Tet, which is the most crucial national festival of Vietnam. In Vietnamese culture, Tết marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year. It usually lasts three days but celebrations continue for at least the first week of the New Year.
Moving on to the next question, in my opinion, the primary reason for its appearance is that Tết is a special occasion for family reunions as well as for celebrating the arrival of spring.
To celebrate the New Year, we do lots of things together. Before New Year’s Eve, we prepare some local specialties, such as Chưng cake, Vietnamese sausage and dried candied fruits to worship our ancestors and then enjoy during Tet. Houses are thoroughly cleaned out and then nicely furnished in the hopes of getting rid of the past year’s bad lucks. Additionally, many families usually decorate their houses with Kumquat trees, Apricot or Peach blossom and parallel sentences that are believed to bring luckiness, happiness and prosperity to them in the New Year.
All members in a family gather together and have parties to ring in the New Year. During Tết, there are a lot of customs praced, such as giving lucky money to children, visiting friends’ houses and going to churches, temples or pagodas to make good prays for their family.
If there’s time left, I would to explain its importance to our culture and me. With Vietnamese, Tết is vital as it’s a very meaningful tradition to welcome the New Year. And it’s more important because Tet is the time for families and relatives to gather under the same roof for rekindling love and bonding. For me, I always long for Tet as it’s the longest holiday, which can help me recover my battery after a long working year

Indian Festival

The Milwaukee Native American Indian Festival is truly and amazing event. For three days in September every year, thousands gather in Milwaukee, USA, to celebrate Indian culture. Last year, I was lucky enough to attend the festival and experience it for myself.

The preparations take months. Dance teams from all over the country practise to compete in the tribal Pow Wow dance contest. Indian craftsmen work to produce the many traditional items on display. Then, in the week before the festival, the stalls are put up and the food is prepared, so that everything will be ready for the big day.

The celebrations began at 4pm and there was plenty to see and do. I visited a traditional Indian village, watched skilled craftsmen carve totem poles, and even learned how to do tribal Indian dancing. It was also a great opportunity to sample some traditional native dishes, corn bread and buffalo burgers.

The festival was fun, entertaining and educational. It was a wonderful way to learn about Native American culture and celebrate the end of summer.

The ancient Celts believed that on October 31st, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased is not clear, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops.

On Halloween, the ancient Celts would place a skeleton by their window to represent the dead. Believing that the head was the most powerful part of the body, containing the spirit and knowledge, the Celts used the "head" of the vegetable to decorate their houses.

On this day people often wear strange clothes as characters in horrible novels or movies to frighten others.

People usually to dress as ghosts, skeletons, or witches. Now Halloween is an official holiday in almost all European countries.

In 2014, I had chance to visit Lim Festival, a traditional festival in Vietnam where the famous Quan Ho folk songs are performed. This special festival was held on the thirteenth day of the first lunar month by local residents in Lim village, Bac Ninh province, Vietnam. Coming here on the festive days, I and thousands of visitors enjoyed the singing of traditional love duets (Quan Ho fork songs) performed by “lien anh” and “lien chi” (male and female Quan Ho singers) behind Lim pagoda, in Lim hill and on dragon boats on Lim rivers. Those singers wore traditional costumes and sang songs in pairs. There were strict rules for their performance in which the singers had to not only react quickly but also have a good understanding of traditional tunes as well as the historical and cultural features of the songs. Like other religious festivals, the Lim Festival went through all ritual stages, from the procession to the worshipping ceremony and other activities. I also watched a weaving competition among the village girls who wove and sang Quan Ho simultaneously. Other traditional games such as human chess-playing, cockfighting contest, rice-cooking contest, tug of war and wrestling were also held. Visiting this festival is a memorable experience to me.

Có những quy tắc nghiêm ngặt cho màn trình diễn của họ, trong đó các ca sĩ không chỉ phải phản ứng nhanh mà còn hiểu rõ về giai điệu truyền thống cũng như các đặc điểm lịch sử và văn hóa của các bài hát. Giống như các lễ hội tôn giáo khác, Lễ hội Lim đã trải qua tất cả các giai đoạn nghi lễ, từ lễ rước đến lễ cúng và các hoạt động khác. Tôi cũng đã xem một cuộc thi dệt giữa những cô gái làng vừa chơi vừa hát quan cùng một lúc. Các trò chơi truyền thống khác như chơi cờ người, thi đá gà, thi nấu cơm, kéo co và đấu vật cũng được tổ chức. Đến thăm lễ hội này là một trải nghiệm đáng nhớ với tôi.

    Mỗi năm , em và gia đình đều đi du lịch , tham quan những miền núi , đi chùa , hay có thể là những lễ hội ở làng . Hằng năm, sau dịp Tết Nguyên Đán, quê hương em có rất nhiều lễ hội. Trong số đó, em thích nhất là lễ hội Mùa xuân và năm nào em cũng mong chờ đến lễ hội này. Vào sáng hôm đó , em dậy từ lúc 5h để chuẩn bị đồ đạc ra xem mọi người chuẩn bị dựng khung , có nhiều người tổ chức lên mạng xem thời tiết , cầu cho  mưa thuận gió hòa để cho lễ hội được diễn ra suôn sẻ . Tầm trưa và tối thì nơi tổ chức sẽ đông nghịt người , điều đó làm thấy rất tự hào vì nhiều người còn quan tâm tới những trò chơi truyền thống như là : thổi cơm , múa lân , đập niêu ,...... Và trò chơi mà em mong chờ nhất đó là đua thuyền . Sáng hôm ấy, hai bên bờ sông suốt đường đua dài 1000m, kẻ khua trống, người thổi kèn tàu, đông vui và náo nhiệt. Đường đua bắt đầu ở một khúc đầu làng em. Dưới sông năm con thuyền đua đã xếp thành hàng ngang ở vạch xuất phát. Trên thuyền, các tay đua là những thanh niên khoẻ mạnh ngồi thành hàng, tay lăm lăm mái chèo. Mỗi đội có một màu áo khác nhau. Đến giờ xuất phát, kèn trống nổi lên thì các chiếc thuyền lao nhanh vun vút về đích. Hai bên bờ sông tiếng hò reo, cổ vũ của người xem làm náo động cả một khúc sông. Đội làng em đã về đích trước tiên. Cuối hội là phần trao giải thưởng, ai cũng có mặt đông đủ để chúc mừng các tay đua. Hội đua thuyền là nét văn hoá truyền thống của quê hương em.
