Light pollution is excessive illumination or uncomfortable artificial light.

According to the International Night Sky Association (IDA) definition of light pollution is:

Any adverse impact of artificial lighting including light in the sky, glare, light penetration, messy lighting, reduced visibility at night, and waste of energy.

This approach confuses its causes and results, however. Light pollution is additional light, similar to extra sound, carbon dioxide, etc. The side effects are many, some of them may not know. Such scientific definition, including:

Changing the level of natural light in outdoor environments due to artificial light sources ...
Light pollution is a change in the level of light in the outdoor environment (from natural people) created by humans. Indoor light pollution is a change in the level of light in the indoor environment due to light sources, compromising human health.
Light pollution is the introduction of humans, directly or indirectly, artificial light to the environment.
